I hope you've all started off on a good foot for the week. I was perusing Facebook and learned that Shomi will be shutting down November 30th. I just got into "Mr. Robot"!
Granted I only have Shomi as part of my mobile phone package with Rogers, but I wonder if they're going to replace it with some other perk.
I find it really interesting how TV has changed in the last 20 years, and have got to wonder what the next incarnation will be. Instead of spending $60-$100 on Cable/Satellite, it'll be all of these different streaming services.
I love my Netflix though. With Shomi disappearing, I wonder if I will try Crave TV after all. I had decided not to get it because I already had Shomi and Netflix.
What are you going to do? Thoughts?
Have a great evening! :)
p.s. I'm new to Chick Advisor - learned about it through a pet food website and this is sort of my inaugural post. Hello! :D

I don't watch it nearly as much as Netflix but I'll miss Shomi. Mainly I watch TV shows no longer on air . But I'm not surprised it's ending, it's a nice bonus from Rogers but I wouldn't pay for it and since the summer Rogers has been offering free Netflix to bundle subscribers.
(Welcome Riskenator :) You have one month to catch up on Mr. Robot!)

That was the part I found funny when I saw recent commercials that Rogers was offering Netflix with their new service bundles vs. Shomi. I suspected something like this was coming, but there are so many shows on Shomi that aren't on Netflix. I really haven't been watching Shomi, only because it's not as easy to access as Netflix for me - we have an app on our TV for Netflix whereas with Shomi we have to turn on our computer that is hooked into the TV and whenever we do that we'd rather watch Kodi instead lol.
Ah well! Got two months to soak it all in! lol.

I saw this yesterday. I also have shomi as a perk from having Rogers Internet. I love a lot of their shows, so this is disappointing to me. I do hope we get offered another 'perk'.

I never had Shomi...but LOVE Crave TV!

Honestly, I've barely even used it. I had a 2-year free trial with a cable package, and I only really used it a handful of times. I found the selection really paled in comparison to Netflix, and it was also quite glitchy.
The fact that they were giving customers such a long trial period kind of says a lot. Netflix has always been a 30-day trial. Two years free? I think that kind of reaks of desperation.

I've been seeing Rogers ads everywhere lately, promoting sign up now, get 2 years free of Netflix. I'm not with Rogers, never had Shomi, but I do have Netflix and enjoy it very much.

Yeah, they really seem to have just been throwing it in with cable packages, phone packages etc. I did pay for it for a time before I switched to Rogers for my phone plan (biggest mistake ever) but I've had it for free for the past year.
Ah well. The only reason I didn't get into it was because our TV has the Netflix app on it and I've been a Netflix subscriber since 2011. Convenience :)

I signed up for shomi but cancelled it after 2 months. Just easier to use Netflix here.

I had Shomi before and cancelled it after the 3 month trial. It was okay. I love Crave TV!

I tried Shomi and when right back to Netflix. Shomi was a no for me at the time I felt i paid more for less.
