Breyers Double Churn Chocolate Cheesecake Ice Cream

I was never fond of the idea of ice cream and cheesecake, especially chocolate cheesecake. So it was a surprise to me that I actually enjoyed this! I can't say its the best mix if ice cream flavours i've tasted, but its unique and I'm sure there will be a lot interest in this. You can taste more of the ice cream than the cheesecake (which is a good thing!) and the hint of chocolate blend makes it a whole lot better.

I was really looking forward to trying this flavour out of all the flavours I was given to try. I would have to say that the ice cream quality was good in that it was definitely smooth and creamy, as for the chocolate cheesecake taste the chocolate overpowered the cheese flavour a bit. If you have the white part of the ice cream without the chocolate rings then you can sense the cheese flavour more intensely. Overall this ice cream is really good, but to be perfect it would need to intensify the cheese flavour a bit more.

By far, Breyers Double Churn Chocolate Cheesecake was my absolute favourite. I like chocolate (not so much in ice cream), but I love love love cheesecake so this was the most exciting taste test yet! The texture absolutely smooth, the chocolate was subtle yet refreshing to my taste buds and the cheesecake flavour was not even overwhelming at all. There was a hint of cheese, but it's hard to decipher what it is initially. The more I ate (and yes I shared), the more I became fascinated with such a distinct taste. My 2 gals and I 1 def. chose this one as the best of the 3 to taste... you can't go wrong... why make a cheesecake when you can indulge it with ice-cream!

I do love the quality of this. Very smooth and creamy. I didn't expect the taste of cheesecake to be so subtle compared to the taste of the chocolate. It is very tasty and creamy though. I just would have preferred that the cheesecake taste be stronger than the chocolate, but if you prefer the chocolate taste over the taste of cheesecake then you might enjoy this!

The Chocolate Cheesecake was my least favourite flavour of the three Breyer's flavours that I tried, below Chocolate Velvet and Banana Cream Pie. I felt that this ice cream did not really taste like you were eating a chocolate cheesecake ice cream. It smelled like cheesecake, but the only time I could taste the cheesecake flavour was if I ate the white part separate from the chocolate. If I had both on my spoon the chocolate taste overwhelmed the cheesecake flavour. I also felt that while the chocolate taste was strong, it wasn't a very rich chocolate taste. The texture of the ice cream was very good and it wasn't too sweet or too bland...I just wish it tasted more like a chocolate cheesecake versus chocolate ice cream with a tiny hint of cheesecake. My sister who also tried this flavour agreed with me as well, that it didn't really taste like cheesecake and she also felt that Ben and Jerry's cheesecake flavour ice cream was better, though I can't say as I haven't tried that flavour.

I love cheesecake and this was simply a wonderful piece of frozen chocolate cheesecake. How can you wrong with that?

The design is beautiful and actually looks good in the bowl after you've scooped it. The texture is creamy and melts in your mouth. The cheesecake flavor is light but strong enough to last the whole bowl. The chocolate is also good and the blend is really smooth.

My kids did not like this one because of the cheesecake flavor which is good news because I will be able to eat the rest of it without sharing - whoo hoo!

With a cup of strong coffee, this ice-cream holds its own and I wouldn't put any other fixings on it.

Ok, of the three flavours that I tried through the Product Review Club, this one was the one I was looking forward to the most. I don't think I've ever seen a chocolate cheese cake flavour much less tried one.

When you first open the lid of the container, you're greeted with these wonderful thin rings of white and brown of the cheesecake and chocolate. In terms of the actual ice cream, I found that this particular flavour was sort of creamy but definitely had a milk solids taste with it. It is not in my opinion comparable to Haagen Daaz unlike the Dark Chocolate Velvet flavour. If you taste just the white portion of the ice cream it does taste like cheesecake. And if you taste just the brown portion it does taste like chocolate. However, when you taste the ice cream as a whole (both cheesecake and chocolate) you can't really taste the flavours anymore. It just tastes like very light chocolate. I guess the chocolate flavour overpowers the cheesecake portion. It may be a good idea to put more cheesecake than chocoalte to counteract the imbalance of the flavours. If asked to suggest this one or not, I would have to say not. Get the Dark Chocolate Velvet instead! That one's fantastic!

I was very excited to be chosen as one of the reviewers for the 3 new Breyers ice cream flavours. The ice cream party kit was very well presented, with 3 small bowls and 3 spoons to share the wonderful goodness with friends.

Double Churn Chocolate Cheesecake was the last flavour we tried. And I have to say that this was my favourite of the three. I agree with everyone that it doesn't really taste like cheesecake, but that little bit of tang is there. The chocolate isn't nearly as rich and strong as the chocolate velvet, but I wasn't expecting it to be. To be honest, I can't really pin down what it is that made this such a winner for me. I just really, really enjoyed it. Perhaps it's because it's so different from what I expected it to be. I think Breyers has a good product here that just needs a name that isn't misleading.

Out of the 3 flavours, this is the one that I will probably continue to buy. The price is a little high, but I think it's worth it for the opportunity to enjoy this amazing ice cream!

Thank you to the Product Review Club for the chance to try Breyers Double Churn Chocolate Cheesecake Ice Cream! As an ice cream this product is great! Smooth and creamy. Definitly chocolately! Delicious! But, as a few of my fellow reviewers pointed out, the taste of cheesecake was not as noticable as I was hoping for! There is a definite "tangy, cheesy" flavour to it, but not enough to identify the flavour as "cheesecake".

I love cheesecake and had high hopes for this flavour of ice cream!! I can't say it deserves a "Fugheddaboutit!" becasue it is a great ice cream, just not "cheesecakey" enough to carry the flavour title "Chocolate Cheesecake". Perhaps they need to kick up the flavour. Some chunks of real cheesecake maybe?

I was surprised to see the price was $7.99 a carton at the Superstore where I bought it. I then checked the coupon, which was valid up to $9.00!!! That's a lot for an Ice Cream that doesn't taste like it claims to taste!

I love cheese cake so i was excited for this one because i never tried cheese cake flavored ice cream. i was kinda disappointed when i tried this. although the texture was creamy and smooth it didnt taste much like chocolate cheese cake. it tasted more like regular choclate ice cream but with a very light cheese cake taste. (but it was not very noticable). Overall the ice cream is good as a regular chocolate ice cream but as a chocolate cheese cake ice cream, i dont recommend this one.
in addition, i would love to try a fruity cheese cake ice cream flavor like strawberry cheese cake.
