#882 in Books

Description

Guaranteed FIRST PRINTING of Stephen King Dark Tower The Gunslinger Born #1! "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." With those words, millions of readers were introduced to Stephen King's Roland-an implacable gunslinger in search of the enigmatic Dark Tower, powering his way through a dangerous land filled with ancient technology and deadly magic. Now, in a comic book personally overseen by King himself, Roland's past is revealed! Sumptuously drawn by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove, adapted by long-time Stephen King expert Robin Furth (author of Stephen King's The Dark Tower: A Concordance) and scripted by New York Times Best-seller Peter David, this series delves deep into Roland's origins-the perfect introduction to this incredibly realized world, while long-time fans will thrill to adventures merely hinted at in the novels. Be there for the very beginning of a modern classic of fantasy literature!

My husband kept telling me to read this book. For years and I kept putting it off. Well, I finally read it and it's amazing! Far better than I could've anticipated. This is a wonderful fantasy - imaginative, great characters and story, inventive. Can't wait to read the rest of the books!

This is my first Stephen King book, it was recommended to me by my friend and I was kind of skeptical about it. But once I started it, I got really into it and ended up really enjoying it. I couldn't put it down. I'm waiting for book two to come in the mail for me now! I can't wait to go through this series and find out what happens next.

Out of all the Stephen Kings books this is the best! I love all the Gunslinger's. They are not the usual for King, but worth reading!

I've always been a Stephen King fan. The first book I read that had me hooked was The Stand and I've read everything he's written since that book. When Dark Tower 1 hit the stands I couldn't wait to get my copy. In true Stephen King style it was edge of your seat entertainment. Throughout the book I kept thinking they need to make this into a movie. I abolutely LOVED this book and the entire series.

King began writing The dark Tower series when he was only nineteen and he decided at the time that he wanted to write these books in a similar way as The Lord of the Rings was written. The series was written over a span of twenty two years and consists of seven books and short stories. In the first book titled Dark Tower 1- The Gunslinger, King introduces us to his main character through out the series, “Roland Deschain.” Here’s a bit from the book. “The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead as he pursues the man in black to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea. Along the way he rescues the boy, Jake, who is from a different time and place, and soon they become ka-tet in spite of Roland’s single-minded goal of reaching the man in black at all costs.” I have to admit that I have yet to read ever book in the series because I was waiting for King to finish writing all of them before I got to far into the story. Its bin hard because ounce you start reading this story you just want to keep going to find out just what the Dark Tower is and why its so important for the travelers to reach it. Now that King has finish I plan to read all of them over the winter and if you enjoy a good long story, then pick up the first book in the Dark Tower series and read it through the winter with me.
