The primer itself was extremely inexpensive so I thought I would give it a go. I like the applicator, it looks almost like a lipgloss and applies like one, too. The formula goes on smoothly and definitely enhances the colour of your shadow, but it settles in creases almost immediately and gets almost heavy and clumpy on the eye.
This is the product I recommend most to all of my friends, it's cheap, it works well, and it holds eye shadow like a champ. I use this every single day, I put it on just before I do my foundation so it has a moment to dry before I put my eye shadow on. I find it helps hold onto the makeup more than if it was there by itself, and I haven't found a primer that works as well as this one.
I love this, you can get it at www.eyeslipsface.com for $3. It comes with one end eyeshadow primer, and the other is a sealer. You can turn any eyeshadow into an eyeliner. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For only 1$ this little gem is part of my daily make up routine. I can't live without this! The only problem I have with it, is that because it's in a tube with a lip gloss style brush, you end up missing out on 1/3 of the product, but for 1$ I can't complain.
Makes all your eyeshadow colors look twice as good!
This eyeshadow primer is very effective. My eyshadow doesn't wear or smudge at all throughout the day. It has a nice light feelng when appplied.
I cannot believe these are 3 dollars. They are comparable to the Urban Decay Primer potion only SO MUCH cheaper! I own so many primers, I have been searching for the best bang for my buck, and this time I hit the jackpot. My shadows stay put, and incredibly vibrant but the greatest thing is these are 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes! Amazing right? Once I finish all my other brands, this is the only primer I plan on buying in the future.
Like many, I also purchased this product after reading all the rave about it on various makeup blogs and watching so many gurus on Youtube use it. My go to eyeshadow primer has always been the Two-Faced Shadow Insurance. However, at $18 a container (0.35oz) and me needing to use it on a daily basis and having to repurchase often, the cost added up. While I still use the Two-Faced Shadow Insurance for special occasions, I have switched to using the E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer as my daily primer.
The Mineral Eyeshadow Primer comes in a small cylindrical container with a sponge-tip applicator (0.15oz/4.5g) in the shade Sheer and cost $3USD. Price-wise, you can't beat it. You can purchase 6 of the ELF Mineral Primer for the price of one Two-Faced Shadow Insurance and get almost 3x the amount.
It applies smoothly, goes on sheer and blends easily. It has a hint of a fragrance comparable to green tea but it's not overpowering. It's very small and compact, and it never leaves my purse.
Your eyeshadow glides on over the primer and as far as effectiveness goes, it definitely makes your eyeshadow more vibrant and makes it last longer. I have gone a whole 10-hour day with this primer and my eyeshadow did not crease or badly faded. I've actually gone back to using some eye-shadows that I did not like previously because they were not very pigmented and did not show up well on my skin.
If anyone is considering buying a product on E.L.F. (www.eyeslipsface.com) for the first time, this is one product you should purchase! This is a great buy and I myself have a few of these I keep as back-up.
So this was bought on my first order from ELF. So I will not only be reviewing this eyeshadow, but ELF as a company. So first let me tell you how my order went:
So being in Canada, I was expecting shipping to be around 2 weeks, which it was. So when my package arrived, I was quite excited. The shipping envelope is actually quite nice, with a cute pink pattern around it. So shipping was so-so.
(from ELF website: www.eyeslipsface.com )
This gentle and completely sheer Eyeshadow Primer has key vitamins A, C and E to help prevent aging and moisturizes the skin. The formula glides on easily and disappears instantly to create longer-lasting, crease-proof eyeshadow. The Mineral Eyeshadow Primer is designed to be used with your favorite mineral eyeshadow to provide ultimate staying power for beautiful and vibrant color that lasts. 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.
So when I first opened my shipping envelope from ELF, I saw that the eye primer box was sorta squished. The box was kind of crumpled and looked like it have been through a lot. I opened up the box and out popped the tube! The tube is light-weight, and could be an easy edition to any travel or on the go makeup bag.
I really really enjoy this product. For those that might not know what a eyeshadow primer is, I'll just explain quickly what it is. A primer helps to extend how long the colours of your eyeshadows stay vibrant, and it also prevents the colours from creasing. Some might say this is an optional item, but it's a great item to have. It would be unfortunate if you worked so hard on your makeup look, and then have it ruined so quickly from creasing would be unfortunate. :(
I like the light weight consistency of the primer. and how it blends into my eye. I can see some people with darker skin tones having a bit of trouble with this primer though, because when blended, it gets rather light. For me personally, it works quite well.
I also like that it has a doe foot applicator, which helps with precision.
I'm probably the only one that has this problem, but when my primer came, it looked extremely cakey in the tube. Like it was clumping up or something. When I actually opened the wand, it had an almost spongy consistency. It doesn't seem to hinder the product's quality, but it's a bit daunting, i'm not gonna lie.
I am very happy with my purchase of this product. It does what it's supposed to, in keeping my eyeshadow long-wearing without creases. The price is extremely afforadable, even with the shipping costs to Canada. I would buy this product again. I have not tried the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but at this point in my life, I think this works just fine considering the price point.
-Does what it's supposed to: keep eyeshadows from creasing
-The consistency is nice, very fluid
-Very cheap, a great bang for your buck
-Cakey consistency, almost spongy.
-It might be too light for darker skin tones
I rate this product: 8/10
