Book: Hate List

To be completely honest ‘Hate list’ was different then any book or any story that I had ever read before. I more or less picked it up to read before my 12 year old daughter did.

With that being said, I actually thought the book was well written and gave a lot of things to think about.

The book features Valerie’s life after her boyfriend, Nick, initiated a shooting at a high school and then killed himself after he shot her in the leg as she tried to stop events from unfolding further. The book goes from the past before and during the shooting into the present with what Valerie is dealing with on a day to day basis after the shooting.

Hospital stays, healing after being shot, emotional healing, and psychiatric care are just a few of the things she deals with. One of the big things the book talks about is Valerie going back to school at the school where the shooting took place. Some of the people who attend the school believe her to be innocent, while some of the people think she has something to do with the shooting.

After all it was Valerie and Nick’s Hate list that the victims were on.

I found the book to be an interesting read with a different take on a different type of victim of circumstances.
