I am a huge Jim Henson and Brian Froud fan, so naturally Labyrinth is one of my favourite films. Incredible story, creature design, costuming and world. Definitely a classic!
I love that Sarah goes from a typical whiny teen who thinks only of herself to a more mature young woman who realizes that her actions have consequences. She learns so much about herself through the course of the movie. It's wonderful to have a movie where a young woman finds herself not through a romantic relationship. The final confrontation between Sarah and Jareth where she finally rejects his paternalistic, abusive 'love' is fantastic. Truly one of the most feminist bits of film anywhere. This movie means a lot to me for many reasons, but most of all for a young girl rejecting a man who is trying to manipulate and control her while claiming to love her.
