This journal is absolutely lovely with a hand-bound/handmade feel that will endear it to certain people far more than a mass-produced plastic faced diary. It doesn't feel flimsy, or amateurish though, it's very sleek and well-made with an undeniable level of quality.

It's real leather, so definitely not a gift for your vegan or vegetarian friend. However, those who love a rustic style leather in a deep brown will be very pleased with this journal.

The paper is nice and thick and bound into the journal in sections. The interior of the leather is natural and unfinished, rather than smooth like the front and for me this is the only negative as I'd prefer a smooth leather all over, but that's a personal taste issue.

If this journal is to your taste, I don't think you'll be disappointed, the craftmanship is great and it makes a great gift. I was especially pleased that it didn't have that overly 'leathery' smell that leather goods sometimes have.
