Leonard by Ink Robin Reviews
#937 in Books

Description

Leonard is a small kid with a giant imagination. When he moves from the city to the country, he has a problem to solve: where can he find new friends? Join him as he searches everywhere he can think of, from outer space to his sister’s tea party. Squish bugs in the deep dark forest (so Leonard doesn’t have to), go on safari, and meet some fantastic fish (but look out for the whale). Leonard’s adventure is full of exciting interactive elements and plenty of surprises, but will he find what he’s looking for?

Beautifully illustrated and optimized for the iPad’s new Retina display, Leonard is a delightful, heart-warming story that kids will want to read again and again.

This is an ebook for your iPad. It is Ink Robin's second, the first being Will & Kate, an interactive story about the Royal couple that got a lot of great press.

Leonard is the story of a little boy that moves to the country and is having a hard time finding any friends. He uses his vivid imagination to create colourful alternate realities where he can play with giant robots, swim in the ocean or float in outer space - all in a quest to find kids to play with.

The app is brilliant. It's something adults would enjoy reading to their kid as much as the child would enjoy playing with it. The characters move, bugs can be splatted, and tilting the iPad makes things move. At one point, kids can build their own robot. It's super cute!

Because there are so many clever things integrated in the app, you can discover something new every time you play with it. I showed it to my baby and he was riveted. He's only 7 months old but he was thrilled with the sounds and movements. I think this is something kids of all ages would enjoy, but particularly those in the 4-6 age range.

I got an advance free copy to review, but it's only $3.99 in the Apple app store.
