Description

Publisher's Description:
Ellen and Andy Graham have the perfect marriage. There is no question how deep their devotion is, and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo. The one who brought out the worst in her. The one who left her heartbroken nearly a decade ago. The one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long-dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she''s living is the one she''s meant to live.

This book, all of Emily Griffin's books actually, are very easy to relate to. Her books really makes you think about your own relationships in life. I suggest everyone to read all of her books.

We read and discussed this book a while back for the ChickAdvisor Book Club. After the great success of Something Borrowed and Something Blue, I was very excited to read this novel - but it was ultimately the title that truly snagged my attention.

    ***spoilerish content follows***

With divorce rates and this idea that you can throw in the towel for just about any reason increasing everywhere, I have long campaigned to friends who are in marital difficulties that love is a decision, not an emotion. I think Emily Giffin really understands this. The grass is not greener on the other side, and what you hold in remembrance is not necessarily a fair representation of the truth (ie. you always remember the good and forget the bad). True love can overcome shakeups in a relationship if both people are willing to overcome the past.

Other reviewers have summed up the story and some of its strengths and weaknesses pretty well, so I won't rehash that. I found it less an entertainment and more a thought-provoking story. Great for discussion and another solid effort from Emily Giffen!
