holy grail cheapie = not for sensitive eyes

This was my first mascara, stolen steathily from my mom's small makeup stash. She rarely wore makeup but when she did she chose this mascara. I remember thinking I was so glamorous wearing this. Come to find out, I have a HORRIBLE allergic reaction to this stuff. So many people tout this as a cult fave and I've seen great results. It's affordable, deeply pigmented and long lasting. But if you have any sort of special needs regarding your skincare, this may not be for you. My eyes get red, flakey, watery and develop (ew!) goobers! So, while it's great looking and affordable, you kinda have to be careful if you have sensitive skin.

Wouldn't purchase again

On the plus, this is an inexpensive waterproof mascara. It is water resistant as stated, and it took lots of remover to get it off my lashes. On the downside, I found it dries out fast and it didn't elongate or separate my lashes very well.
It's a shame because I like the non waterproof version of this mascara!

Threw out after second use.

I used to use this years ago as it always stayed in place. I thought I'd give it a try again because it is so affordable. Well, I'm guessing they changed the formula because within a couple hours I had racoon eyes! I had to keep wiping under my eyes all day. Tried it a second time and the same thing, so this is definitely not a waterproof mascara that I would recommend.

I will be honest and say that this was not the most favourite mascara that I have tried. I really wasn't a big fan. The color was great, a nice and bold black like I want, and the price is unbeatable. But the results it gave me were not what I was looking for. I found it seperated my lashes to the point of being able to see large spaces in between, when I like my lashes to be full and fanned out. There is nothing wrong with the product itself, it just isn't the look I want.

OMG I have used this since High School. It was always the cheaper of the mascaras and the cheaper of the Maybelline mascaras as well.

I agree with another review that it doesn't add volume and length, but it is smooth in its application and is good if you want to just darken you lashes to give some depth. They do stay separated because the mascara is quite wet at first. If you try to add more and more, it just looks horrible.

Perfect for blondes who want their lashes to be seen better or for anyone who just wants a light look.

Everyone raves about this mascara but I just don't get it. The brush is stubby, it doesn't appear to thicken OR lengthen my pale, thin, stubby lashes and for a waterproof mascara, it smeared everywhere. It's cheap, but its not good. I have used other Maybelline mascaras that are vastly superior.

It is does not run down face when in the water. However it leaves slight smudges underneath eyes.

Nothing special...doesn't really make your lashes look any better ... It's not bad either though it's ok I guess

Not that great of a product, made my lashes clumpy and spidery and it has a horrible smell to it.

Your basic mascara. It gets the job done but I don't see an extreme change in the lashes.
