When I bought this product I was looking for an eyeshadow that could make my eyes look smoky like the magazines. What attracted me to the product is that it clearly tells you written into the eyeshadow what color goes in which area: Lid, Crease, Brow, Outer Corner. I thought, pretty dummy proof and could like nice. What I didn't expect and didn't like with the product is that it I had load my brush more than usual to get any powder. This became quite annoying and I started using it less and less to the point that I am about to throw it our and find a similar product to replace it. I trust chickadvisor to point me in the right direction for a better product. I would have not bought the product, but there was no review on chickadvisor to help my purchase. I hope this review helps in your next smoky eyeshadow purchase.

This was on sale for about 5$ with a free eyeliner, so I thought "Why not?" I'm not much of an eyeshadow wearer, because I like a natural look look, so I chose the palette in Designer Chocolates 40.

The guide on the back of the palette is a good idea, but I can't tell if it works or not, because the colours won't show up! All you can see is thin sparkIes. I was really disappointed. If I wanted an invisible eyeshadow, I wouldn't wear one!

    Sadly but definately a Fugheddaboutit!

I like this colour palette, I think its fun and cute, but like some of the other reviewers have mentioned, I think it is a little much for day. The great thing though, is that you can use only a couple of the colours for a daytime look, and add more for evening. I was not too impressed with how sheer the eye colour was, and felt that I had to put a lot on in order to achieve a bright look. I assume a primer would remedy this situation. What I do like about this product though is that for eye shadow dummies such as me, it makes it easy by labeling each colour with where it should be used on your eye, and also by putting a step by step guide on the label at the back. I think overall this is a good product for experimenting, but I don’t think I would buy it again because of its staying power and sheerness.

This is another product I received in my Chickadvisor Shopoholic goodie pack. Although I had a 'lust at first sight' experience with almost all of the products I got, this unfortunately wasn't one of them.

I LOVE the concept Maybelline has come up with - each eyeshadow engraved with the section of your eye its meant to be applied in. For example, the Lavender says "Lid", the Brown says "outer corner", etc. And on the back of the palette is a picture of a lid with each section labeled, and instructions on how to apply for what type of look.

However the colours themselves are more tinted fine sparkles than colours. Because I'm such a Maybeline girl (i adore many of their products, such as Lash Stiletto for everyday-use mascara, ShineSeduction Champagne Fizz, etc), I really cringed to give this eyeshadow palette a "Fugheddaboutit", so to make extra sure, I went and applied it on my lid just now...

You'll notice that I didn't give it a "Fugheddaboutit"... and the reason is, in my opinion each colour of this palette, if used individually, would look awsome on a bright summer day! I love eyeshadow and makeup in general, however the best look for summer days imo is sheer sunkissed peachy type of look. And although I always buy and use very pigmenty eyeshadows, thick pigmented eyeshadows (depending on the colour of course) might look overdone for a summers day. I can totally picture myself wearing any one of these four colours on my lids during summer.... I think these glittery hints of colour will look fabulous when the sun hits it... natural but still a little something something... know what i mean?

This is why I can't give this product a "Fugheddaboutit"... perhaps I won't be using it as the manufacturers meant for us to use it, but I will definately be putting it to good use - my style :)

II would love for Maybelline to come out with the same concept palette, but much more pigmented colour, and less glitters! When all four colours are glittery, its hard to wear them together.

I'm still waiting for companies to catch on and give us mini eyeshadow brushes instead of sponges.... Maybe Maybelline will be the first? ;-)

I'm not impressed with this eyeshadow set. I have Saphire ice and I'm use to wearing shimmery grey, white, blue which is what is in this set but the colors just don't look right. They don't show up very well unless you put a lot on and then it just looks overdone. The white didn't even show up at all and the darkest color was too dark. I don't recommend this product.

I have a fold in one of my eyelids and find that after awhile most eyeshadow I wear (including this) begins to collect in the fold. This makes it look like I drew a line across my eyelid with eye liner. I also found that the shades I bought (in browns) wouldn't show up against my skin unless I really laid it on thick; when I did that people tended to ask me if I was getting enough sleep - implying that my eyes looked socketed. I probably wouldn't buy this again.

This shade also doesn't work for me. They are not very basic colours, and purple is very rarely IN. I like the idea of a product telling em exactly how to apply it, but the shade did not show up very well on my skin colour, as it didn't look very different to me. I would definitely give it a try in a more appropriate colour, one that is more basic and 'lasting' in terms of colours that are always in fashion.

I received the lavender fields color set in my swag bag at the shop crawl... I like the fact that this product has handy instructions on the back to help an eye makeup novice like myself, apply the correct shades to the correct parts of my eyelid. The color set did not suit my skintone at all but I am sure they make a set for medium to darker skin tones as well!

Great colours, great price. It's for novices learning to use 4 shades of eye shadow for one look! Personally I don't follow the instructions they have on the back to a T. I find that that only works for a night time look, and that it's too much for day. If I do decide to put on eye shadow in the morning, I will use only one or 2 colours from the pan. Nice product! The only thing I don't like so much is the packaging, because the plastic will crack and break overtime. I find this happens easily with CoverGirl and Maybelline packaging. Though I must say, it's quite a deal! I think I'm gonna head over to Shoppers and check out more of their shade combinations! But for now this one (Lavender Fields) quite snazzy!

I love this eyeshadow quad from Maybelline's Expert Eyes line, Lavender Fields (#32)! It was part of the super swag bag in the Toronto Shop Crawl (#2) and this crappy picture doesn't really do it justice. I have green eyes and fair skin, and this color combo is ideal for me. I match it with a black or dark brown liner and it really looks great! I will definitely buy this again.
