I bought this car brand new in 2008. I still drive it every single day. It's been over 8 years of ownership, along with 140,000 kms together. The car has been pretty reliable for the most part. A few things that have gone wrong: a leaking sunroof, broken air conditioner (happened last year), hole in the exhaust due to rust, and lower control arms rusted out. Overall, it has been very reliable and cheap to maintain. I plan to keep driving it until it no longer works. I recommend this as a first car for a student or young individual.
