Before I tell you about this product, let me tell you a little bit about my hair first...
I have long, color treated hair. It is fairly thick, and it's medium textured. I have a 2b wave. It's naturally medium brown, but I dye it darker. Before doing this treatment, I had recently dyed it to cover old highlights.

    What they say about it..
This easy to use, revolutionary, at-home salon treatment eliminates up to 95 percent of frizz and curl and cuts blow drying time by 75 percent for up to 30 glorious days*. Organix Ever Straight Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30 Day Smoothing Treatment is an exclusive, high potency, keratin complex that penetrates the cuticle with keratin proteins along with rich organic coconut oil and avocado oils to smooth the cuticle for straight, strong tresses.
*Results may vary depending on texture of hair.

    How you use it....
    (Their Instructions)

    1. Wash hair with clarifying “PRE SHAMPOO” packette (included), then rinse. For extremely curly hair wash twice. (Do not condition). Conditioner will keep the treatment from penetrating the hair cuticle.

    2. Towel dry and comb hair. Hair should be 80% towel dry.

    3. Shake bottle well. Apply treatment to two inch sections of towel dry hair. Do not over saturate. Do not apply directly to skin or scalp. Wear gloves provided.

    4. Comb treatment through hair to evenly distribute from the roots to the ends.

    5. Let treatment sit on hair for 30 minutes.

    6. Pull hair straight using a brush and blow dry until hair is completely dry.

    7. Flat iron hair in small sections on high heat (450° recommended) to seal keratin treatment onto the hair shaft. Note: There is thermal heat protection in the treatment to protect your hair from overheating. Flat iron each section 7 to 10 times. Treatment should be applied in a well ventilated area. Fans are recommended for air circulation.

    8. Leave treatment in hair for 48 hours. Do not wash or let hair become wet. Do not bend hair, tuck behind ears, or use ponytails, barrettes, etc. If hair becomes bent, wavy, or kinky, blow dry with a brush or touch up with flat iron until hair is straight again.

    9. After 48 hours, wash and condition hair with a sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo. For best results use in conjunction with Organix® Brazilian Keratin Therapy products. Style as desired.

    10. To preserve treatment, continue to use ONLY sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoos and conditioners. Treatment lasts up to 30 days.

It is recommended that a strand test, in a discreet area, be performed prior to application, especially if you have light colored or chemically treated hair. In isolated circumstances, some may experience a discoloration of the hair.

    My Experiences...
I found the Organix Brazilian Keratin 30-Day Smoothing Treatment (isn't it a mouthful?) for $14.99 at Superstore. I personally found this a bit expensive for a drugstore product, but compared to the similar salon treatments it seemed like a good deal. It is well packaged, and includes more than enough product to cover the hair with some to spare, I was personally left with enough for another treatment. The kit was fairly straightforward to use.

I applied the product sparingly after shampooing twice with the shampoo packet included in the kit. The smell of both the shampoo and keratin treatment is pleasant and unoffensive, it personally smelled somewhat of Nutella to me, though it did get strong after having it in my hair for so long. I applied it sparingly, but it still felt very heavy in my hair. I definitely felt as if my hair was heavily coated in product.

After 30 minutes I blow dried it with a round brush and straightened my hair with the iron set to 450. Do this in a well ventilated area, as it released chemicals as you do this. Steam will come off your hair every time you iron. Try not to inhale. You are supposed to go over each piece 7-10 times until your hair is completely straight. The whole process took me about 2 hours. It definitely isn't something to do if you are pressed for time. After drying, my hair felt extremely dirty.

Another thing I noticed was that as I was drying my brush was getting covered with brown sticky goo. I realized this was the product stripping my hair of it's color. My hair color had faded in patches. I left it in for the full 48 hours, and as recommended I did not put my hair into a ponytail or tuck my hair behind my ears. A drop of water never touched my hair. I ironed any wavy bits immediately with an iron set to 450. The smell faded after about a day.

After 48 hours I washed my hair with L'oreal Nutri-Sleek (a non-sulfate free shampoo, the only part of the instructions I didn't follow). I blow dried as normal and was very disappointed with the result. I saw minimal frizz reduction, and my curls were still there. Now, my goal was never to lose all my curls, but I was at least expecting a marginal change in the amount of frizz I suffer from. I didn't find my drying time was any different than usual, and I have yet to try flat ironing my hair again to see if it makes the process easier. Overall for me, the cons definitely outweighed any pros and I would personally not recommend this treatment.

    Updated On: April 17, 2012

It's been almost two months, I thought I would update. It did offer some frizz reduction but my ends were so damaged and tangled that I needed to trim an inch off my hair! Not worth the damage.
