Although it has its flaws, I'm glad I purchased this years ago. It really cuts down on the smell of dirty diapers which is a great thing. The unit itself is cheap but unfortunately the refills aren't. I've found a single cartridge lasts about a month if you wrap the diapers up as tight as possible. That makes a world of difference in how often you have to change the bag.

The downside to this unit is that you have to push the diaper down through the top. If the diaper is quite full you run the risk of the contents coming out and getting on your hand. I always make sure the diaper is as sealed as possible to avoid this. When the bag gets too full it becomes harder to push the diapers through the chute. This is when you run the biggest risk of getting stuff on your hand. It's better to empty the canister before this point.

Emptying the canister is probably the worst part of the diaper genie. All those diapers smell and you have to open the bag to seal it for removal. Holding your breath helps as does moving quickly.

I still think this is a better solution than having dirty diapers in regular garbage cans or having to double bag them.

A decent diaper pail - We love the peddle feature ensuring our hands are free when we insert the diaper. It does a decent job keeping the smell at bay. The only issues I had with this pail is that I wish it had a better notification system when the bag is going to run out (maybe make all of the bag a different colour to let the user know they're going to have to change it soon).

Changing diapers can be a dirty job but since it`s inevitable, make it easier on yourself with a proper diaper pail. I was convinced I would avoid the Diaper Genie and anything like it but alas when I came upon it at 50% off, I caved and bought. At that price, it was no more expensive than most regular garbage pails of equal size and function (foot pedal). While the refills are expensive, it`s ability to contain odor exceeds my expectations and it`s way easier to use than I originally anticipated. Out of sight, out of mind!

Love the diaper genie! Keeps the smell away amazingly. The oly downside is how much it holds and the fact you have to buy refills. Can find for real cheap or free when buying used.

I love my Diaper Genie! It works great at removing smells and is so easy to use - the foot pedal is great when you have a baby in your arms! I wish it would hold more, and I find when removing the bag, you end up wasting lots trying to cut it - but I do love the built in cutter. The only downside is the refill price. I always have to stock up when they go on sale, or I wouldn't be able to afford it!

I love this diaper Genie. So easy to use, hands free so no need to juggle baby on change table while trying to open diaper genie, the foot pedal is perfect. Refills are pricy, but easy to use.

Overall the diaper pail itself is a good buy, the only thing that I don't like about the diaper pail are the refills and how expensive they are. It's more cost effective to just use a garbage bag in place of the refills, it still locks away the smell too.

Its a great convenience to not going outside each time to throw out diapers in the garbage can nor throwing them out in a garbage can in the baby's room. It helps with the smell but doesn't get rid of it totally. However there are two things that I do have a problem with it. First it does not hold to many diapers though the bottom looks like it would the bag does not allow it. I have 2 kids 10 months apart so when you are using it for a 10 month old and newborn you have to remove the diapers from it everyday instead of every 3 days. and it doesn't change when my youngest is now 1 year and oldest 22 months. Secondly being that as your baby's diapers get bigger say size 3 and up, the diapers sometimes get jammed and need a lot more effort to push into the bag underneath.
