As part of my journey to become a healthier version of myself, I’ve been following a ridiculous amount of fitness and health accounts on Instagram. It was through this channel that I stumbled upon several companies that offer their own individual takes on the ‘teatox’. What, might you ask, is a teatox? Essentially, a teatox is a way to cleanse and detox your body. You drink the suggested amount of tea (which varies from company to company) and try to follow their eating plan. While many people use these teatoxes as an aid in weight-loss, that was not my goal, which is why I didn’t alter the way I ate (hallelujah candy binges!), and continued to only exercise approximately three times each week. The SkinnyMeTea teatox (as with many) is said to assist with fatigue, bloating, breakouts, and weight-loss.
Let’s start with a review of the (arguably) most important part – the price! SkinnyMeTea ships from Australia, yet only charge $10.00 for shipping – quite a bit less than what our friendly neighbours to the south tend to charge. I purchased the 14 day teatox, which put my total order to $45.00. Not horrible, but definitely not something I’ll be throwing money towards regularly.
My favourite part about this detox is that I didn’t have to follow the eating plan in order for the teatox to be effective, and I got to drink even more tea. Sure, it likely would’ve worked more, but without the eating plan and regular exercise, it served its purpose. I did notice an increase in my energy, which, for those of you who know me, means I was able to stay up to almost 11pm instead of my usual 9:30pm bedtime. I also noticed a decrease in bloating and found my skin to be less oily and shiny than it usually is.
I would say overall the teatox experience was a good one. I wouldn’t say my results blew me away, but they were definitely noticeable.
That being said, if used in conjunction with their suggested eating plan and workout schedule, I’m sure the results would’ve been even more dramatic. The instructions were easy to follow, the product was easy to use and quite delicious (with the exception of the colon cleanse tea, which could be quite potent if left to soak more than 30 seconds).
If you’re looking for a general cleanse and don’t want to give up food or incorporate exercise, I would suggest this product. If you’re looking for a general cleanse to assist with weight-loss, I would suggest using this product and following the eating plan and workout schedule.
