Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin Reviews
#35 in Books

Description

A hard-working attorney at a large Manhattan law firm and a diligent maid of honor to her charmed best friend Darcy, Rachel has always played by all the rules. Since grade school, she has watched Darcy shine, quietly accepting the sidekick role in their lopsided friendship. But that suddenly changes the night of her thirtieth birthday when Rachel finally confesses her feelings to Darcy's fiance, and is both horrified and thrilled to discover that he feels the same way. As the wedding date draws near, events spiral out of control, and Rachel knows she must make a choice between her heart and conscience. In so doing, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk everything to be true to yourself.

I read the book a few years back. It was recommended by one of my friends who bought this book and Something Blue. I bought both the books and i liked Rachel as she was a sweet heart and I was rooting for her and Dex as I believed Rachel had dibs on Dex first. I was not a fan of Darcy as she seemed like she took advantage of Rachel. That all changed when I read Something Blue.

I read this book a few years ago, and have read the rest of the collection as well. I loved it! I think it was a cute, and girly concept. The characters, and the plot was interesting! I loved the movie too, pretty hilarious.

I didn't think I was going to like this book very much, because I tend not to like the chick-lit category. I thought the characters were relatable and very realistic. I could picture people I know having similar personalities. It took me awhile to like Rachel, but by the end I was rooting for her happy ending. This book made me open to reading more chick-lit books, which I have really started to enjoy reading during those laid-back summer days.

I'm not a really big fan of Emily Giffin, I find most of her work tends to be about the same thing. That said, I really enjoyed this book. It was a good read, despite the content. I honestly liked Rachel and could feel how jumbled her feeling and life were becoming. Someone was going to get hurt, and I just kept hoping Rachel would get what she wanted.

I'm a huge fan of Emily Griffin's books, but Something Borrowed and Something Blue are by far my favourite. You can't help but fall in love with the characters and the story line. I guarantee once you start reading.. you wont want to put them down!!! The movie was fantastic as well.. I hope they do Something Blue!!

I saw the movie first and loved it. I then read the book and also loved it. I couldn't put it down even though I already knew how it was going to end due to the movie. I read something blue right after and also loved it. Another book that I couldn't put down. HIghly Recommend both books and others by Emily Giffin, she is a great author!
