This is used to add to wax after it is melted to make the wax really white. It comes in very handy for making candles especially at Xmas to depict snow.
Ever wondered why white candles are so white? It's because of stearic acid. Suppose you make a candle, pour it into a mold and unwrap; it's not white because wax in itself is not white. The whiteness you want to achieve is done by adding stearic acid. You can find this at most craft stores.
