Description

Publisher's description:
Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer's disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what it's like to literally lose your mind...

A good read, that i don't regret reading at all. However it is a book that you know what is going to happen from the minute you open the front cover....

a good, interesting read, but not a surprising page turner

I really loved this book,"Still Alice" is a beautifully written, heartbreaking novel about the devastating affect Alzheimer's has on its victims and their families. "Still Alice" takes place over a short period of time (September 2002 to September 2005) and it is frightening how fast the Alzheimer's takes over Alice. A portion of the sale of each novel will go to the Alzheimer's Association. So if Alzheimer's has every effected anyone you care about you know how devastating it can be.This one is a must read

I bought this book when my Grandfather was struggling with strokes that brought about premature signs of dementia. I thought it might shed some insight into what it felt like to be him and how it would affect others in the family. I shared it with other family members too.

I highly recommend this book. Not only is it a touching story but it will help you understand what you're dealing with if you find a loved one or yourself in this situation.
