Well, to tell you the truth I've only used this product twice on my hair because I'm not the beachy, surfer girl type. I'm not even sure why I bought it! But, when I did use it, the salt spray texturized my hair and made it look (attractively) windblown. It wasn't sticky and didn't dry my hair out, but the few times I did use it I didn't use my usual smoothing cream. It didn't make my hair frizz, which was good, but I feel naked without the smoothing cream which is why I don't use the salt spray often. This product is found in drugstores, usually for about $5, and is perfect for summertime.
