User ReviewsI read the Undomestic Goddess when it came out a couple of summers ago. It’s a great light summer read that isn’t overly serious. I didn’t find it as good as Sophie Kinsella’s other books, but still worth reading. It was rather predictable, but really funny at parts, which would keep me reading. Yes, I’d recommend this book to other female readers. [ back to top ] This review is the subjective opinion of a ChickAdvisor member and not of ChickAdvisor Inc. Unfortunately this doesn't live up to the Shopoholic series, but being a huge Sohie Kinsella fan, it was a must read for me. reviews I really liked the book. I usually stick to more dramatic hitting novels but every so often like a nice light read. And this satisfied my urge. I really like Sophie's books and wasn't dissappointed with this one. Yes it was a little unreliastic, but the reason I like to read these types of books is to escape reality for just a bit. I found Samantha to be the opposite of her previous character Becky, as she is smart and gutsy and makes her easy to root for. It's a nice light romance with a dash of humour. Although this was a fun, light read that I couldn't put down it definitely was quite unrealistic. It's a pretty funny story and not at all to be taken seriously. I would never recommend this one as a book club read! reviews As a die-hard Sophie Kinsella fan, I had to read this. Every time I pick up one of her books, I hold my breath in anticipation that this - yes maybe this - book will meet my beloved Shopaholic standard. reviews Samantha Sweeting is a young lawyer who is about to make partner when she realizes that she’s made a horrible careless mistake. In a hysterical daze she flees her office and ends up on a train going out of the city. Samantha ends up in the country where she finds herself in the home of a woman who had been expecting her new housekeeper. Samantha for some inexplicable reason does not correct the woman and ends up living in her home and acting as a housekeeper. The situation is made even more hilarious by the fact that Samantha’s domestic expertise pretty much ends with ordering take-out. The storyline is pretty unrealistic, and the whole time you wonder why Samantha doesn’t just come clean, however it still has the same charm as Kinsella’s other novels, and you will laugh just as much. The ending is rather predictable, but if you want a light book and a good laugh I would recommend this novel, perhaps as a beach read.
