Boutiques & Malls Reviews

"The Mall" is this mystical place where every teenage dream comes true:  meeting friends at The Mall, seeing a movie with a new boyfriend at The Mall, shopping for prom dresses at The Mall... One-stop shopping is only one of the many reasons we're drawn to these indoor and outdoor modern-day bazaars like moths to the flame.

As much as we love the reliability of finding our favourite brands on the ubiquitous mall directory boards, other shopping aficionados live for the hunt of the next great boutique.  Independent hat makers, curated dress boutiques, and only-found-here lingerie locales are the treasures that tempt these supporters of the local economy.  Expense, justified.

Garage
I haven't really had a problem with Garage's service! Their associates are always friendly, and though there aren't always people covering the changerooms, they're still super friendly when they're there. Garage usually has my size and the store looks very...

Walmart
Where I live there is not much choice for me as to where I'm going shopping. Walmart is one of the TWO stores in my area that has a shopping cart to accommodate two little bums in the seat. I need that. The convienence of not running after my son because I bent down to...

Hideaway Boutique
I happen to have a love hate relationship with this boutique. I LOVE the clothes, but I HATE the prices. With that being said the clothes offered there all by high-end brands so naturally the items found there will be priced higher. The boutique offers a wide variety of brands...

Melmira Bra and Swimsuit Inc.
I had passed by this store countless times and had generally avoided it because it seemed expensive. I am getting married in two months and needed a good corset for under my dress. I normally shop at Victoria Secret or Change (and hate La Senza) so I was hoping to pay $100-$150...

Murale Store
When the Murale @ Shops Don Mills opened, they had bright and interested staff. Now, not so much. They used to be sure you got what you needed and left happy. Now their insincerity is astounding! They verge on sneering at you when you come in, and if you don't spend a...

Pho Pa
I purchased a bracelet from this store for about $160, and I loved it but unfortunately it started to change colour after only a few months (not tarnish, actually permanent colour change from silver to pink). When I raised the issue with the staff, they were just horrible at...

Zara Canada Inc
Zara is by far my most favourite clothing store! Their style is always in! I love that they bring in european styles that are unconventional, and not just trendy. Though their prices are a little more than what their quality suggests, I am so in love with their style that it...

Reitmans
I used to shop at Reitman's all the time, but I find that they changed their clothing style within the last few years. I always found trendy items there, that were age appropriate - but recently, I have noticed that their clothes are more neutral, and business like. Also, the...

Want Boutique 1694 Avenue Road
Want Boutique has a great selection of party and cocktail dresses as well as some casual wear and more office-causal type clothing. They carry great brands and quality merchandise that's trendy and stylish without catering to the fashion victim. They tend to have a lot...

Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW)
Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) has an awesome selection of shoes/boots and accessories for men and women. There are plenty of designer lables to choose from and the prices are fairly reasonable. The merchandise is high-quality and very stylish -- it's hard to resist their...

Vermont Country Store
Need a specialty item – a shampoo long gone from drugstore shelves, or a no gizmo wind-up watch not carried by department stores, or perhaps you have a taste for original cream hazelnuts no longer stocked in candy stores? You can get these long lost products and so much more...

Chapters Book Store - Runnymede location
This is for Chapters in general, not this specific location however. I LOVE chapters. I am a huge reader, my guilty pleasures are celebrity biographies. What I love about Chapters is the atomosphere. I can get my Starbucks, find a good book or magazine and find my way over to a...

St. Laurent Centre
We enjoy the St Laurent mall, the kids are crazy for the Rainbow Theatre, and I am crazy for the price of it. Four kids can really add up at other theatres, and even if the movies aren't brand new releases it's great if the little ones just get to go to a movie...

Ikea
I live about an hour from my nearest IKEA and so I go once a year with my friends and every time we go, it is an event. It is like Disneyland for me. It is certainly a very unique kind of store. How many store have a showroom with a separate marketplace and warehouse? There are...

Sophias Lingerie & Swimwear
To start off with, this store is not for the faint-hearted...it is not a cheap store, but as a girl with curves and a large bust, it is an absolute dream come true. As any girly girl with a DD (or bigger) chest will tell you, finding pretty bras in our sizes is no easy...

Over the Rainbow
I came in Over The Rainbow during ShopCrawl 5; it was probably my favorite store of the night. It's eclectic, trendy, and offers plenty of selection for men and women - it's one of those places you'll want to take your time looking at everything. It is, as others...

Rideau Centre
Definitely my favourite mall in Ottawa and surrounding area. It has all the stores you could ever want, and more. It's one of the more high end malls, though, so sometimes Bayshore is better for buying basic needs. Although the layout took some getting used to (it's a...

The Glebe Emporium
The Emporium is a cute, fun place to lose yourself... or perhaps an afternoon. The massive array of kitchen accessories is positively mind boggling. The items are quite pricy, however. They are good brands... but are displayed in a fun way. All of the items that I have...
