I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago after reading the review here on chickadvisor - I didn't even know this restaurant existed and it's so close to my house! It was a week day so my friend and I were the only ones there but the service was excellent. The food was incredible too, everything tastes so home made. The Dolmades are made by the chef's mother, if they are available get them! They are so moist and flavorful. Our server was really good in helping us choose what we wanted to try. The menu is very small - not much of a selection but everything on it looks delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Looking at it from the street level, you'd never guess what a treasure 17 Steps is. Despite the humble signage and the fact that it's in the basement, it is easily one of the best restaurants in Bloor West Village.

17 Steps is a new restaurant, but already they've gotten a lot of traction with locals and popular restaurant reviews site, Urban Spoon. That's because the Sicilian inspired cuisine is all made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. The cozy exposed beam decor and friendly staff are certainly part of the appeal.

One of the things that struck me the most was how reasonable the prices are for what you get. I ordered the gnocchi, which was easily one of the best Italian dishes I've ever had - and it was only $8. The made from scratch tomato sauce with fresh Basil was so good, we asked for an extra serving of it on the side. The lamb burger with fresh dill and goat cheese was quickly gobbled up and despite how full my husband and I were from our plates, we still ordered the creamy home made Tiramisu.

Though we've only been there once, I can already tell this will quickly become a favourite.
