Baked Expectations - Winnipeg

I really love this place. I have made it my mission to try every dessert on the menu over the years. I have to say the pavlova is my favorite. Also their penne pasta is yum!

Their specialty is deserts. The salads are good but I think the deserts are really outstanding. Cakes, tarts, pies...
I like the varied tastes available but unfortunately my waist says NO. Once a month is more than enough. A really nice place to hang out with friends. I found the service was reasonable to on the slow side but nothing to complain about.

I love love love the desserts, the lemon cheesecake is my favorite. However, the pasta I ordered during my last visit had all the right ingredients but tasted like leftovers and was under heated. It was also difficult to find someone to attempt to get it warmed up.. other than that though, the desserts and pink lemonade rarely disappoint!

So theres a lot of buzz around Baked expectations, and it does not disappoint. The atmosphere is amazing, and the food was delicious. It was super laid back and chosing was incredibly hard, because everything looked so good. Dont pass up this Winnipeg gem- its well worth the trip!

I've always found Baked Expectations to be slightly overrated. Despite the selection, I'm often underwhelmed by the quality of the desserts themselves. Many of my friends adore the place so I go fairly often, but too many times I've had an issue with my dish that hasn't let the experience elevate beyond 'mediocre'. For example, a strawberry cheesecake where the strawberries were frozen solid, chocolate cake that was a little too dry, the sky-high apple pie that didn't quite pack the flavor I'd have liked (then again, my mother's pie has spoiled me). It's not a bad spot but I wouldn't say 'city's best'. The Oreo cheesecake is quite consistent in it's quality and the often overlooked entree menu boasts a really tasty cream sauce and sundried tomato penne dish.

So so good! I especially love the caramel pecan cheesecake! They also make a mean chai latte

Decadent desserts! The german chocolate cheesecake is my fave, however i've tried a lot of others are they are all fantastic.

Desert heaven. Incredibly cakes with a selection I've never seen anywhere else. We got our cakes for our wedding here and they were a fraction of the cost we would have paid elsewhere. We just bought 3 identical double chocolate cakes in small, medium and large, and had the florist arrange rose arrangements to go on each cake. It turned out amazing and everyone loved the cake! If I remember correctly it was under $100. I've also been here many times before and they have amazing cheesecakes and stuff. Just make sure you share because one slice is HUGE and really hard to finish - even between two people.
