The first thing I learned about Bay Dermatology Centre is that it is not The Bay Dermatology. I actually thought it was a spa at The Bay. What it is, is an unassuming doctor's office vibe Dermatology practice with some of the best anti-aging treatments in town.

I met with Aesthetician, Genny Day who let me hammer her with questions about her best skincare tips to her philosophy on beauty and ageing. (She's a naturalist!)

If you are looking for a spa type experience where you will float around in a bathrobe sipping herbal tea listening to zen type music, click away. This is a place for serious skincare fanatics who want their skin to look as young and vibrant as possible. Ideally a good 10 years younger than reality. The clinic offers everything from Botox to laser treatment, peels and aesthetics.

I received a microdermabrasion treatment followed by an oxygen facial. To show me the difference the microdermabrasion made, Genny did the right side of my face first so I could compare it with the left. I was shocked to see the difference. It was like one side had a power wash and buff and the other, a zippy drive through car wash. She continued to do the whole face, then applied to oxygen treatment to bolster the skin with vitamins, energy and hydration. It was heavenly. It feels like a cool cloudy mist that is slightly sweet and fragrant.

I've decided I really love oxygen facials and it is something I'd want to get once a month if I could. The microdermabrasion was effective and it's something I'd probably do once a season at most. It takes several layers of skin and though it doesn't hurt at all, it does make your skin more sensitive for awhile. I also found that effective at reducing the appearance of sun spots on my face, which was a pleasant surprise.

Genny told me it was Madonna who brought oxygen facials to North America (the world?) Apparently she is quite a believer, and given she looks a good 10 years younger than reality, I am too. To get movie star flawless skin laser treatment would be necessary, but for a thorough deep clean and a fresh start, these were wonderful treatments.

Oxygen facials are around $225 each and Microdermabrasion is $150. You can save if you buy a package of several treatments at once.
