I have rated this store as a You Betcha because I do enjoy the products that they sell but I do not enjoy the service. In about 9/10 stores the service is absolutely horrible. I've been to locations in multiple cities in Ontario(London, Brantford, Hamilton, Ottawa, Kingston etc) and only in 1 store have I actually felt that they cared that I was in there(Hamilton location). I am rarely greeted when I enter the store, rarely asked if I need help and I almost never see an employee leave the cash register area. Even when going to purchase something the staff is rude and not friendly towards anyone but each other.
Purchasing from their online website (boathousestores.com) was an even worse experience. I placed an order with 1 item in November of 2011 around the last week, the purchase was charged to my credit card on Dec 3, and I never received the product as they claimed to only charge your card when the product has been shipped. After much searching (at this time they didn't even provide a phone number on their website) I found the phone number to head office and planned to call in a few days if I didn't receive my order. I received a phone call on Dec 13 from head office saying that they were sorry and that they hadn't shipped my order yet and that they would refund my shipping & handling costs (on a order over $60). I was not impressed but got off the phone anyways and they said they would ship it the next day. I received a call again from head office a few hours later saying that they felt I was unhappy with what they offered me and were only now willing to offer me my order for free and refund my purchase. Although this was nice of them, it should have been offered the first time as I waited almost a month for my order and it should have only taken 5 days to get to me.
