Cafe Trattoria Pane E Vino - Montreal

Pane et Vino has the perfect el dente pasta. They are open only for lunch and offer a small but delicious selection of specialty Italian cuisine. I ordered the Pene Pomodoro and my husband had the pasta bolognese. Both tasted homemade and authentic. The sauces were nice, though not over the top.

What made this place special was the warmth and the hospitality of the staff. At lunchtime It was packed with locals: A grandmother savoring a salad alone with a glass of red wine, a table of 4 business suits, a group of friends at another, the staff warmly greeting regulars at the door... it has a very welcoming vibe. Try to get a table at the large open windows during the summer. You will feel like you are in Italy.
