Great place to go, I always leave looking and feeling my best. I am a true Donato addict - I get my haircut and coloured there as well as my facials, pedicures, gel nails and massage. Once you experience the difference between Donato Salon Spa and the other salons/spas out there, you will never want to go anywhere else. I always get treated like a princess whether it's receiving a hand massage during my colour processing or a make up touch up before I leave. Donato knows how to treat their clients, I recommend anyone out there to check it out. Higher end but well worth the price.

Did not like this place at all. The hair dressers are snooty, the place is packed and loud, and it certainly isnt worth what you pay for....big time rip off.

Just went to this salon for the first time yesterday. The place is very big and quite trendy. It was very busy though on a Sunday, so if you're looking for a peaceful relaxing place to have your spa treatment in, I wouldn't recommend this place. I came in for a haircut though, but how I ended up here is interesting: I was eating at Alice Fazooli's several weeks ago and saw a server that had amazing hair, so I asked her for her hairdresser's name and told me 'Sam' at Donato Salon Square one cuts his hair. So I booked an appointment for my next cut. Anyway, Sam did not disappoint. I love my cut. I brought in a picture of a haircut that I would like. He cut it just like in the picture, but with a few changes that he recommended for me. He did take his time to explain to me what he was going to do too, which I really appreciated. The result was fantastic. I'm really happy with it. The cost is not bad to get a cut by Sam either. I think it's well worth it, especially since he guarantees that you like the cut. And if you don't like it he says to come back and he will fix it.
The rating above is more for the salon, however I give Sam 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

Okay sooo not too long ago I went to get my hair down at Donato Salon & Spa, at square one. I have heard some good things and bad things about this place, but hey I thought I would give it a try. I had what they called an artist director for $95 and a senior hair colour tech for a colour and highlights now the prices are possibly a little high for the area that it is located but I am use to pay $200- $300 for my hair. Anyway when I arrived the girl at the front was well okay, she kind of took a while to find me in her system because some put me under a different name. I was early therefore I was aware that I had to wait for my appointment to start. In the mean time I was looking at a few different hair product, I asked this lady for her thinking she was some sort of manager, and well she was extremely RUDE and did not know anything about her product knowledge, she did not even have the nerve to direct me to someone that could actually help me as she rushed to her own appointment. I asked a stylist near by who that was and he did not even KNOW her??? then a young lady informed me that her name is Lisa, well I am not sure what he position is at Donato's but she has horrible customer service. Anyway I got my colour done and well nothing special it was orange?? my hair is originally light brown and I always get either a blond or caramel color done....but not this time....the colour was also sooo cold on my head it was as if they placed it in a fridge?? not a comfy feeling indeed. Then came the hair cut, I have long hair down to my mid back and it is fairly heathly as I use salon based hair products to protect my hair, and also my colourist uses VEGAN colour formulas in my hair, something that "high end" salon doesnt even have. --- Back to the hair cut....well I asked for 3"s off and mayde got 1 and a half " haha it looked like I just had a bad colour service down with an OKAY blowdry. Well its the first and the last time thats for sure..... ya its a huge salon but it looks more like a factory to me....no one seems happy. As I said I dont mind spending the money at all.....but not getting the service you are paying for is a complete RIP OFF....

From one fashionista to another look the other way and venture out to better places with an upper east side appeal....

I should have read the previous comment. I went to the one in Mississauga and Senior Stylist Leo took care of it. Acutually, I would like to have my hair curl but not too curly. All he said was loose will last for two months and curly will last for three months. He did not even explain what he is going to make it or his idea. As a result, I only got my ahir cut short, and very curly, just like explosion. No style at all, not even a bit as they stated in their website that the stylist will have consultation with customers. No, not at all. Service worse that those cheaper salon. No one gave you any tissure to wipe off water of perm chemical. Not even to ask you if you like it after the hair done. Totally disappointed experience for me. Will not go back there again. I have written them an e-mail to inform them of my feeling, but no rely, no one even to bother to get back to you.

I have been a customer at Donato's for the last 8 years. I usually go to the Mississauga location with the exception of living downtown for two years where I found it easier to go to the Yorkdale location. I have mostly stuck with the same stylists, Sam and Aileen ( no longer there :( ) and have never had a bad experience to date. My last visit, (Nov. 08) was an emergency/crisis one because during a trip to Montreal I had decided to have my bangs trimmed and the stylist there went all out which left me with uneven bangs and lopsided hair (which cost me 60$!!) For a cut I didn't even authorize! I unfortunately, could not return to the salon to have it fixed because we left the very next day. So, I made an appointment at Donato's with Sam, as soon as I could and we tried to fix the damage. I had originally wanted to grow my hair out so Sam basically tried to blend in the rest of my hair. We even tried to add extensions from the Jessica Simpson "hairdo." line but it looked like a bad mullet in all honesty! Within few days I had decided that I would just revert to chopping off my hair and starting over because even with my hair blended I was still unhappy, however I was concerned at having paid $60 originally plus another $50 to fix the damage caused by the other stylist. I gave Donato's a call, asked for customer service where we discussed a re-do policy. If you file your concerns within a 7 day period after your service, you MAY be entitled to a re-do or to an appropriate compensation. This is up to a manger's discretion, however if you have a viable reason, I do not see why they would not be willing to help you. As a result, a few days later I was booked for a re-do (free of charge) and I am now very satisfied with my haircut.

I gave Donato's a slightly lower rating for price because some of the services can run pretty high financially and sometimes the salon is so busy that I have trouble enjoying the atmosphere intended for relaxation.

    * My advice is to call or speak to customer service, voice your concerns for the service you received and ask what options you have. Most businesses are willing to resolve issues depending on the circumstance rather than lose customers.*

Going to Donato salon to do my hair was the biggest mistake I ever made. I ended up spending $160 on Just Dying my hair, the girl pushed me into getting streaks although i repeatidly told her i dont like the look of streaks, and she reassured me that it would not look streaky and would be well worth it. Well stupid me believed her. In the end i ended up with brassy looking stripes at the top of my head, it looked exactly like the old school highlighting kits u buy at the drugstore with the little cap...Very unproffessional looking and definately not worth $160. When i went back two days later to fix the brassiness...all they did was cover the streaks, which was ok because the streaks were Horrible...But i ended up paying them $160 for one solid colour. Girls...If u want to look hot Do NoT go to this place. Maybe they have one or two people who do an ok job...But seriously, it was way too overpriced. The same day, my hair cut cost me an additional $95, but it was just mediocre, not horrible...but nothing special. I thought by paying that much money i would be leaving there looking hot and faboulous...But that was very stupid of me. I will be going back to my old hairdresser who was awsome in the first place I have no idea why i decided to try somewhere new.

Well i go to the Donato Hair Salon at Square one in Mississauga. If your a little worry in terms of pricing go with a Talen Salon Stylist for $35.00. I personally love Sam hes great, really knows his stuff really well, very helpful in terms of what you want and will listen and occassionally will put in some ideas of what he thinks is good for ur hair. For 35.00 you get not only a good hair consultation but a great scalp message which Sam does great. Hes very young and hip and very trendy so he knows whats in and whats out and he adds his personaly creativity to your hair which you will love. Ive been going to him for the past 6 months. As well, I get my eyebrows done here mira does a great job hes very talented and knows how to really make sure your happy with your shape of your eyebrows. You can choose plucking or waxing whichever you prefer all the girls there are very knowledgable with what there doing.

Great Place highly recommend if you stick to Sam and Mira for Eyebrows

    I've been to Donato's 3 times.
The first time I had Mira (Meera?) who was AMAZING!! She listened to me, and gave me the best cut I've ever had. Sadly, she is no longer there.

The second time I had Sadaliya (sp?) who was even BETTER than Mira. Sadly, SHE TOO is no longer there.

The third time I had Pasquali who gave me the WORST haircut EVER. He talked the WHOLE.TIME. Very disappointed. My sister got Emily who was very good, but guess what, she is ALSO no longer there.
    Pasquali is though. :(

And nobody there can tell me where Mira, Sadaliya or Emily have gone....so sad 'cause they were the best ones there.

This salon is so busy all the time, doesn't always feel like they are spending the time getting to know their clients. I have been there 3 different times trying to find a good stylist, but haven't been able to connect with one.
