As someone who gets their nails done cheaply and often I quite like this place. It's not a fancy spa by any stretch of the imagination and they don't honour appointments or always have the best manners, but the place is very clean, doesn't stink nearly as bad as most cheap nail places, and they do a good job. It's well worth the $40 for a mani and pedi.

I was overdue for a mani and pedi, so after reading the reviews here, I decided to give Lakeview a try. The place was quite busy for a rainy Saturday night, but I took that as a good sign. If women and men were willing to brave the rain, they must be doing something right.

I found the staff and the owner to be quite friendly, and their limited knowledge of english did not bother me in the least. The woman who did my pedi/mani was paid close attention to the rough spots on my feet, but was still gentle. I've paid double the price at spas like AVEDA, only to have half the attention paid to my feet and hands.

The only thing I was dissapointed with was their selection of polishes. They had none of the vibrant, bold colours I was looking for. Instead it's your typical pinks and reds. Next time I will bring my own.

I've gotten over a dozen pedicures at Lakeview Nails (since it's so close to my place) and usually had great service for such a reasonable price...until the last time i went a couple of months ago and got cut by one of the girls that barely spoke english. unfortunatley, since she barely spoke english, she wasn't able to apologize (or perhaps didn't want to apologize since I was vividly unhappy about the bright red blood and subsequent alcohol sting and made that clear!). owner reluctantly gave me a $5 dollar discount but i haven't found the time to stomach a return visit...overall, cheapest place in the city that i know of with your own tool kit. overall, it's a hit or miss for me now since i've had a positive experience there 90% of the time...just that 10% that seems to have turned me off...and since the owner didn't care if i was happy, that was too bad. Thought she would've recognized me as a regular customer but i guess i was a dime a dozen.

I don't know about Happy Feet playing in the background... when I went they were playing Madonna - True Blue tour Italy, I think!

My pedicure was ok, she didnt do a very thorough job softening my feet, but she did sort out an ingrown toenail for me and took pains to ensure she did it well. She was friendly and tried very hard to chat with me, although her English was poor. 10/10 for trying so hard though! Polish was beautiful. They have OPI. 2 and a half weeks later it is still on with no chips... Good job!

I also had my UV Gel nails filled in. I think I got the owner - Monica. Stern lady who set about doing my nails military style. She wasnt very friendly or chatty and she actually HURT my nails filing.. I told her at the time, but she continued to hurt me. Results were impressive, I have to say.... at least I thought so. ..

What I dd not realise was that filing too hard causes ugly red stress marks to appear when your nails grow out. My nails now look ugly, they are days overdue for refills, but I am hesitant to go back to be honest.

I just want to find a nail technician who does very fine and even UV gel or acrylic nails, and is not going to damage my nails or hurt me.

I will probably goback for a pedicure, but that's all..

I went here on two separate times to check out their services because this salon is a 5 minute walk from my condo. The first time I had a manicure and pedicure. It was a below average job. They are way too liberal with the blades they use to remove thickened skin to the point where I had to check to make sure the woman working on me didn't draw blood. They speak very little english, but at one point, I got the impression they were making fun of one of the clients because they were pointing and laughing at this woman. The second time I went to get my legs waxed. I made an appointment and I still waited for 45 minutes after my planned start time - the whole while the other girls kept saying "only 10 more minutes". The wax job was TERRIBLE!!!!! The wax was not hot enough and didn't remove the hair and I left an oily sticky mess! I had to shave my legs when I got home because she removed less than 50% of the hair. If you want a budget mani/pedi, go to Venus nails at Bay and Wellesly. And for waxing, stick with places that know what they are doing.

I've been coming here for manicures and pedicures since this place opened a few months ago and I love it. It is your typical cheap nail bar with that 1980s "Nails" poster in the window and staff who don't speak english very well, but sooo much better than any other similarly priced places.

For starters this place is squeaky clean and sanitary. You get your own kit with your own buff and file that they store on site with your name on it for your next visit. It is spacious and I can't stress enough how clean it is. It also doesn't stink like poison unlike so many other nail bars in it's class. They have a flat screen tv that has Happy Feet playing every time I've visited - except for today. They probably finally got tired of the dancing penguins.

The BEST part is the massager chairs you sit on when you get a pedicure. Wow! It's worth the $40 for that alone. You get a total back massage and you can switch between the different settings to get the kinks out while your feet are being pampered.

The staff is friendly and efficient but as I mentioned above don't speak English that well, but that doesn't bother me.

For $40 you get a manicure and pedicure or you can pay $25 for a pedicure and $15 for a manicure. They also have other services like waxing. I got a bikini wax for $20 that was fabulous and less painful than any bikini wax I've ever had. The owner did my wax.

Appointments are not necessary, you can just walk in - though they are often busy so you might want to give yourself a little extra time.

I thought I would update my review to respond to the other comments. I still go to this place on a regular basis and still think it is great for the price. You get what you pay for. If I'm getting a $15 manicure and a $25 pedicure I expect the place to be clean and for them to do a decent job, but that is about it. I never let anyone use a razor on me because I have also been cut (years ago at a place in Brampton), and the razor is a bad idea as it causes your skin to grow back thicker and rougher.

If you are looking for a cheapie nail walk-in place that is clean and does a good job, this is a great bet. However, if you are looking for more of a spa experience then yes you will be disappointed. I don't think you can ever get a spa pedicure for $25 anywhere in the city and if you know of a place, please let me know!!

One more thing: I've noticed they are not good with appointments. It is better to show up or call and see if they are busy and then just head over. I've tried making appointments before and it doesn't really mean anything.
