Lock Stock Coffee is in Edmonton, Alberta, which has a surprisingly up and coming coffee scene. In the last couple of years, there have been several quality espresso cafes to pop up over town, and the coffee culture is surging (Coffee Bureau, Iconoclast, and Little Brick, to name a few). But Lock Stock is easily one of the best.
The espresso used is Danesi, which is an Italian import that is slightly sweet and smooth. The baristas at Lock Stock are experts, making any milk drink to perfection (velvety milk that is always smooth). The cafe is located within Red Star downtown (a laid back pub bar with fine cuisine, hip beats along the lines of Tame Impala and Kendrick Lamar, and a chill vibe) and as a result, plays amazing music. The atmosphere is darker and energetic. There are amazing baked goods to be had as well, made daily in the Red Star kitchen by the managing head barista. He crafts bacon cheddar scalion muffins (with a cornbread texture), carrot cake whoopie pies, and espresso shortbread with total talent (and other treats which are slightly less of a favorite).
If you're in Edmonton, this is where you need to go.
