Lunch Box - Toronto

Oh, gosh - where do i begin? I live very near this restaurant and at first was so happy to have found it - the food is, indeed, excellent. The neighbourhood feel was welcoming, so I began to frequent the restaurant and within two or three visits realized that this is NOT a place to return to!

In the middle of my meal, I could hear the staff talking about other customers that had just been in, then I watched as the owner pulled off her shoe and started showing off the feet that she proudly claimed were the most disgusting in the city. Next time I was in, I heard her call one of the girls stupid and then start lamenting that her dog had left a dead rat on the back step! Then the owner's husband started drilling one of the girls on her sex life - in the middle of the restaurant, and then talking about the customers he thought were hot! My final straw was when I saw a very nice regular leave with a coffee and then heard them go on for ten minutes about how he was ugly and pathetic.

Yes, the food is good - but I can find good food all over this lovely city. I refuse to give money to a place that has such little class, grace, or respect.

Lunch Box is a charming little restaurant on Bloor West, steps away from High Park and the Keele subway station. The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. I finally got to try the food out for myself and I am very impressed! My bf and I shared a grilled vegetable salad that is as delicious as it is healthy. We also ordered a pancake breakfast from their all-day breakfast menu. What's impressive about their food is that it is simple, but is always prepared to perfection! For health freaks who want to find delicious bites, Lunch Box is the perfect place to go to. Everything on the menu looked so mouth watering, and I will definitely be back.

I'm a sucker for good service, and the servers here -- including Unyoung, the woman who owns the restaurant -- are super friendly. She even remembered me from the time I picked up their yummy pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. :)
