The sales associates in here are always so friendly and nice. This place is great if you're a professional beautician or hairdresser, however they do tend to over-price some very basic stuff with no improvement in quality. I am starting to hate being asked if I wanna spent $5 on a Sally card as well. Another issue is their lack of black hair products. You would think if you can't get them at a big box store you'd be able to get them at a specialty store. Nope. Still like their makeup and nail polish selection however.

My neighbor is a beautician and constantly buys at this store. One day I went with her and was surprised at all the good deals and cheap prices they do have.

Sally Beauty is a fabulous source for high end beauty products. I have only shopped there for hair tools, home wax, and nail supplies and have always found exactly what I wanted. The sticker prices are higher than Walmart & co but the quality is professional. Often the sales and incentives make it an even better deal than you'd get from the lower price options at a place like Walmart, and I have picked up high end nail polishes for a steal.

I shopped Sally when I lived in the US and am thrilled that they are also in my new Canadian home town. Some of the customer service can be a bit hit or miss in terms of knowledge base, but all staff have always been extremely friendly. I usually come into the store already knowing what I want to buy, and several times they have allowed me to buy a comparable product when the featured brand is sold out.

    It's definitely worth checking out!

I just discovered Sally and have visited both locations in Winnipeg within the last two weeks. I think it is worth buying membership card - you get the $5 back as a voucher. Every month you spend $35 or more they send you a $5 to use the following month on a $25 purchase.

I was expecting to see brandnames so was surprised that I wasn't familiar with most of them. Sally has their own brand too, apparently. I was looking for a flat iron. Prices were ok, seems that there are frequent sales. I like their return policy, and it is hassle-free. Extended warranty seems a bit pricey

My one concern was the lack of knowledge by the staff. They seem to just promote whatever is on special at the time (though they don't know why) and can only tell you what the box says vs. knowing anything else. For example, they had no idea about the difference between the flat iron for keratin treatment vs. argan. Or one brand vs. another. Maybe it's different with hair care products or makeup. But they should have some knowledge "beyond the box" about some of the more expensive items too. I have to do all my own research and it's hard to find some of these products online. I have tried two flat irons so far; the first one they strongly recommended is too small (but I think she 'pushed' it since the size I wanted was out of stock); the second one may have a problem with the plate. Have to check.

Most of them lacked enthusiasm/interest when answering the phone or in-store looking for products or answering questions. A couple of them took initiative to find out what they didn't know, which I appreciated. Customer care and product training is highly recommended.

Sallys is a great place to shop if you constantly dye your hair. I was using box dye to lighten my hair for years, and I was really getting annoyed as the colour would be different every time, and I would end up with dry hair. I bit the bullet and when to Sally's and found myself overwhelmed. They have too much stuff, and it is geared toward professionals, so you really need to know what you are going in for as it can be very easy to get scared and leave. MY Sally's is very small, and does not have a huge staff, but I can honestly say that once you find a staff member, they will be very very helpful into making sure you get the best product to do what you need to do. Initially, it may seem like you are paying a lot for supplies, but once you have everything, it will last you about a year, and you will not have to buy another dye in that time!

I went to Sally Beauty for the first time a little while back and was immediately overwhelmed by all the choices! Their speciality seems to be hair products- there was a ton of hair treatments, shampoos, styling products etc. If you have a hair issue, they most likely have a solution. In addition to the hair products, they also have a small makeup selection, brushes and skincare products. They also sell some nail polishes and have their own brand (which is pretty cheap and good too!) I was expecting the prices to be a bit lower, but to be honest, they aren't expensive at all. I got a hair oil, blush brush, face mask, two mini polishes and a mini hair polish oil for about $30 all together- not too bad. I like that they carry hard to find or little known brands. It's the only place in Toronto where you can find the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask!

I am definitely going to go back there. I'm curious about the makeup line there, but I probably won't try it. Even though this place is a bit of out my way, I will definitely go again and stock up on everything I love!
