The Colander in Trail has been around a very long time and people here in The Kootenays absolutely go crazy for this restaurant if you ask locals about a good restaurant there always going to suggest The Colander and rave about it.Perhaps because I lived in the Vancouver area for 24 years and I tried some really outstanding Italian restaurants that I know this place is not that great. There are many good restaurants in this area so I just don't understand the hype about The Colander.

My boyfriend and I went last year to give it another chance and it was terrible. The service however was outstanding. Our salad had a huge lettuce core in it,the spaghetti was really greasy and I found out later they add chicken fat to the sauce! It is way to salty you defiantly need lots of water when eating here.My boyfriends chicken was very greasy. Its also so dark in this restaurant its very odd.I defiantly will be skipping The Colander when in Trail. If your in Trail and want Italian I would suggest going into Ferraro Foods and getting some things from there deli its a really great Italian market.

The Colander Restraunt in Trail BC is a must have, at least once in your lifetime! People who have lived near or around Trail BC always seem to have to eat there on their trip back home. The food is pretty tasty, the price is decent for all you can eat, and the quality of service is always pretty good. My only complaint is that sometimes, there's a bit too much fat in the sauce and the food comes out as fast as it goes in (sorry sorry TMI I know!). But if your ever in the area, go to the Colander Restraunt and try some traditional italian food! Just like nona used to make!
