The Palm Room @ Hotel Fort Garry - Winnipeg

I used to come here with my friends when I lived in the Peg and I've been there a few times since when I'm in town. I love the live piano, the stuffy decor and the fact that you can order off the menu here. I once asked for a bowl of strawberries to have with a chocolate martini and they brought out a big bowl of fresh ripe strawberries and only charged $5. Great service and it's something a little different for Winnipeg.

This little place inside the historic Hotel Fort Garry is a great spot to sip a Cosmo and listen to some good live jazz. I've been told the creme brulee is fantastic.

The hotel itself is opulent but dated; however this adds to the allure, especially as it's rumoured to be haunted! Apparently the rooms themselves are modest, and definitely don't bother with the Revolving Restaurant on the top floor, but the facade and lobby level are spectacular!
