The Windsor/Essex county humane society was founded in 1926 and was incorporated in 1949. It began its humble beginning in a citizen back yard and has grown into the wonderful place that it is today. That citizen just happens to be my cousins Grandmother. Her love of animals and her disgust of how people treated their pets and farm animals broke her heart. She began taking them in and caring for them until she could find them a good home. The humane society does the same thing today only it’s much bigger and there are a lot more of them across Canada and the U.S. Being that they run on donations from the public its very important to try and help out in any way we can. It doesn’t have to be money; anyone can volunteer to help care for the animals in the shelters. If you’re looking for a new friend, then why not visit a shelter near your home first. You won’t only be saving an animals life and finding a new friend, you’ll be helping to keep the shelter doors open so more animals can be saved. Prices very depending on what pet you choose.
