ChickChat TV: Going Green

It may be “in vogue” to worry about the environment these days… but are we actually doing anything about it? We have all been programmed to spew off a list of things we should be doing to help reduce our footprint, but it seems the average person is better at reciting that list than taking it into action.

We found some poseurs (and a few genuine recycling warriors) willing to admit the dirty truth about their recycling habits.

I think people need to WAKE UP and smell the coffee "grounds" that they should be composting.
The earth cannot continue to be abused forever. If we continue to have a non caring non commital attitude then how long exactly you think this good Mother earth will continue? If we don't take care of her, she will NOT take care of us. Continued abuse will leave us with no drinkable water source, water, dirty polluted air to the point that we can't go outside, polluted lakes that are not swimable or fishable... I could go on forever.
We as individuals can all do our part easily enough, we need to crack down on BIG INDUSTRY!

I think that's too bad. It is cool to take care of the environment - I do not understand why people think it's cool to not care. It can depend on where you come from. Toronto is a big city. Big city = big convenience. People just take for granted.

That extra push to actually do something is hard for many. They hear it all the time... recycle, compost, drive less or take public transit. But many people are less willing to sacrifice their own convenience than for their future generations of children.

I think it will always be cool to take care of the environment and be more considerate of your surroundings and fellow inhabitants.

I just think it is funny that everyone has the buzz words programmed into their heads but aren't necessarily putting them into practice.

That's interesting.  You're exactly right ... right now being "green" is vogue.  When/if alarm ceases, will it still be "cool" to be green?

This is one of my favourite episodes. It was funny how people would start off saying that they recycle and whatever else the media has trained us to say and then admitting they don't do much at all.
