Anyone tried Monat hair care?

KrissiC

Has anyone tried this? A woman recently tried to sell me this, saying its 'saved' her hair but her hair looked quite dry. She showed me before and after photos but I'm not quite convinced.

Hmmm

I was at a trade show and this lady tried selling me some. She had these before and after pics of people but most weren't very impressive, especially her own.

Monat feedback

I've been using it for about 5 months now. The first month, I would say my hair was more dry than it had been. Since then, things seemed to have evened out (they call this detox, basically stripping all the chemicals and build-up off your hair). My hair is growing quite quickly relative to how it used to, and I have a bunch of new regrowth coming in (about 1-2 inches in the last couple months). It doesn't lather or act like a normal shampoo, but my hair seems to like it, and it makes me less greasy after a couple days than I used to be. I like that my hair feels more balanced now. It's less knotty than it used to be, and I'd swear it dries faster now ;). Feel free to ask here if you want to know more.

Thanks for the feedback! That's interesting to know that at first your hair got drier before getting better! And also that it doesn't lather. Do you find a bottle of product goes a long way? And have you used the Rejuvanique hair oil?

Follow-up

I find to get much of a lather, I have to wash twice. Once, leave in 2-3 minutes, wash again and leave in another 1-2 minutes, while I do other stuff in the shower. The second time the lather is more, but still not as much as regular shampoos. I use a dime to quarter sized amount for each wash, and find a bottle of shampoo lasts 2-3 months ( I have hair down to my bra strap, and a lot of it), so the price per use looks a bit better than it might for something that lasts a month. I use the oil for overnight treatments, or on dry skin (legs in winter). Love the smell, but I find for regular daytime use in my hair, it makes it a bit too oily. The leave in conditioner is great for me during the day, and I use the masque overnight for more hydration as well.

One more thing

Just in case you're wondering, I do color my hair, and I find that the products don't seem to wash the color out. I don't see much fading, just a lot of growth!
