A few of my friends have used the product called Manic Panic, and they make purple hair dye as well as many other colours! I think that it turned out super well when they used it, very vibrant colour. :)
I hope that helps.

Some of my daughter's friends have used a brand called "Splat"! They make both temporary and permanent at home hair colours in a variety of rainbow colours. Don't have any personal experience with it's staying power - but I think you can find it at big box retailers like Walmart and online in Canada as well.

I don't know any other brands that work that well; the best option would to be to get the colour done at the hairdresser, but that can be expensive, especially if you want to up-keep it. You can always check out Sally Beauty and see what they recommend, since they have stuff you can't always find at box stores. They're a beauty specialty place but you don't need a cosmetology license or anything to get in.

I've had a colourist dye my hair using Manic Panic, they don't have professional dyes that compare colour wise. The advice she gave me was to wash my hair as infrequently as possible and to use COLD water. ICE COLD. It helps to stop the colour from bleeding, just like if you were laundering very bright or dark colours.
The good thing about Manic Panic is that it won't damage your hair, you can colour often without I'll effects. Also, if you apply heat to it while its on your head the colour will be far more intense.
Hope that helps :)
