Can't get the yellow/brass out of my hair HELP!

So over the course of about 4 months. I've been going from black hair to platinum blonde. I have bleached my hair with products from Sally's about 4-5 times as well as toned it. I STILL can't get the yellow/brass tinge out of my hair and don't feel safe bleaching my hair again. Any suggestions?

Hope this helps

What toner have you used? T18 by Wella is a great toner but can only be effective once you have reached the the color of the inside of a banana. If it is still a dark orange, you will need to wait and then try bleaching it again.

Purple shampoo?

Have you tried purple shampoo? Over time it really helps with brassy tones.

Thanks for replying!

I have purple shampoo, and that is actually the toner i used after bleaching. i made my hair too dark, so i waited about a month, then i bleached again, and the brass came back? It was so strange. I guess i will just have to bite the bullet and bleach it once more! Thanks ladies

What kind of bleach and developer are you using? Since you have been bleaching so much it might be a good idea you get something less than 20 vol if that is what you are using. I just bleached out an ombre on myself not long ago with 20 vol and it did the job pretty well but its still quite orange so when i'm less prego I may use like a t50 and just go silver for awhile to avoid the bleach for a bit longer.

i've been using 20 vol developer with quick blue bleach packs each time. The T50,.. do you think it will help my yellow hair go a bit lighter?

Try baking soda!!! I used to do it because my water where I live is full of minerals and it would make my blonde brassy. Just take a bunch of baking soda when your hair is wet and rub it in and let it sit for 5 minutes then just shampoo it out really good.
It took me about 5 baking soda treatments over 1 month to get rid of it, I did it slow so I didn't damage my hair.
Also, try a clarifying shampoo, they help strip build up off the hair and that could help too.

Baking Soda

Thank you for the advise, everyone! I heard that clarifying shampoo is good. I think i will give that a try, while i'm try to repair some of the bleach damage in my hair. Then i will bleach it and hopefully when i tone it, the yellow/brass will fully lift!!

blonde woes

You need to tone after you bleach (to a light yellow) or your hair will always be yellow. You only bleach to lift color and you tone to give you the shade you want of blonde

bleaching vs toning
