Newsflash: Mediums Tones Are Not Flattering

LaurenBlair

I just read Beauty Editor's expose on medium tones and I am speechless, I never considered the 'dull-ness' of a medium tone until I scrolled through the images of Mandy Moore and Nicole Richie. I think her thoughts really spoke to me today because I am now sporting a much darker, more vibrant brown do; and I started to think about how I feel when my hair is that medium colour and I start feeling the need to do something to it. Anyways, after reading what she had to say about medium tones in hair, lips and nails, I have to agree - they just aren't that flattering on anybody.

I really dislike....

...medium tone nail colour. It washes out pale skin tone and does nothing for a darker complexion.

Yes

I never understood why certain colours never looked goo on my nails, I always thought it was just because they were too short or cracked. It's such a simple realization, but it makes so much more sense to me know.

haha

My Mom has been wearing rosy pink shades on her nails for EVER. I've been trying to get her to broaden her nail colours for years but she just doesn't want to listen. I should show her BeautyEditor's post so she can see it's not just me who disagrees.

It makes so much sense!!

This is such an amazing article! She makes perfect sense, I've just never thought past "medium colours don't suit me". I can't pull off "medium" hair because it would literally blend into my skin colour. I could never wear "medium" lipsticks like mauve, because somehow it would make my lips look dark and skin look super dull. Even for my nails I could never wear peachy colours because it would accentuate the discoloration in my fingers. I always wore weird colours like blue, purple, black, green (currently wearing) because I found it looked better on me.

I am so glad she put things into such clear perspective. What she said really goes with this years Spring trends too: bright lips (yay for me! Finally fashionable lip colour that flatter me) and bright colours.

To sum it up: Do it loud, or go home ;-)
