Subscriptions... Worth it in canada?

The idea of subscription boxes is fun and I really like it, but when shipping is $5-8 extra per month on top of the box, I'm a little hesitant. I like the look of Ipsy probably the best, but I keep hearing mixed reviews on value.

Its really up to you!

I've been with Ipsy for over a year now and I loved it. Loved. Lately the bags seem to be getting worse and worse, and decreasing in value. Don't get me wrong, you're still getting at least a little more that double the price you pay ($10 $6-7 shipping), but its really up to you. I love trying new products so I'm usually pretty happy with my bag every month. Plus, you get a free make-up bag of course! Its all up to you if you think you will use the products they give you. If you are interested in seeing past bags, I actually started my blog 6 months ago so I have about 5-6 reviews on Ipsy bags which I'll link below for you. If you think you're going to make your money's worth with the bag then go for it! Otherwise you should use that money towards something you truly want!

The first subscription I signed up for was Ipsy. I've had good bags, and bad bags. I usually get a few items I know I will love, and use, and sometimes I get items I hate. I think they lie about their IpsyMatch, because there are times I get samples I have never selected in my profile - like perfume.

Ipsy is $10 a month, then they charge $4.95 for shipping, but then with the conversion rate being so bad lately, the bag ends up costing about $17 and change. Some months I feel like its not worth the almost $20.

I tried Beauty Box 5, they charge $12 a month and $3 shipping, again conversion rate making it the same amount as Ipsy. Between BB5 and Ipsy, Ipsy is better.

There is TopBox which is Canadian. I have heard mixed reviews about it. I'm not 100% sure if they charge shipping or not, but they are $12 a month.

I wouldnt spend $20 on makeup a month so it wouldnt make sense for me. Pretty pricy.

I've had Topbox before and it definitely doesn't have much of a wow factor for me. They have these special boxes called "prive" boxes which SOME topbox members will receive, and some of these prive boxes can be well over $150. while people who get regular topboxes will only get like $30-$40 of only deluxe samples compared to full sized ones. You have options every month to choose one of their brand boxes which features items from a specific brand of the month, so sometimes those ones can be good. I did enjoy Topbox at one point, but I hated seeing the Prive boxes some people received because it made me feel pretty upset getting a normal box for the month.

Ipsy, so worth it!

I've been subscribing to Ipsy since June and I have been in love with each bag except for the last one I received, the only reason why I didn't really like it though was because one of the full size items I already had and knew I would be giving it away. It costs me $17 to have it shipped to Canada but each bag has had more than a $25 value to it, one bag had $63 worth of product in it! Plus to be honest its so much fun getting it in the mail :)

Definitely subscribe to Topbox. It's only $12 a month for Canadians and the quality of products are awesome. It was $17 for Ipsy, and their bags just suck, so I cancelled.

Tried Topbox, Love JULEP!!

I tried Topbox and did find it fun to get a surprise in the mail monthly. After time however I was overstocked with products and sometimes only ended up with one I really loved.

My fav is Julep which I find is unique compared to the other boxes. At first it was mostly nailpolish but has branched out into a line of great beauty products (which do not contain the harsh chemicals!) You join and become a Maven but can switch your style every month if you wish or like something better in another box. Plus it gives you the option to just skip a month so if you find you need to take a break, do not like that months products ect you can just opt out! Here is a link which should get you the first box for free https://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/75279/ (I think you may need to cover the few dollars shipping)
