Sunscreen RUINING Earrings!

Wearing so much sunscreen these days - try to wear it every day and try to reapply.

ALSO every day, earrings.  Don't we gals love our earrings?  Cheap and cheerful and swingy and silver(ish).

Now, however, combine the two, and the earrings get tarnished and finishes come off.  The worst!

Any ideas?  Hate to not wear any earrings but my face is more precious...

Thanks in advance.

try a better quality

During the summer I prefer to wear studs - the earrings with the secure backings you get when you first have your ears pierced. Get a quality pair that is gold plated so they won't tarnish and because of the secure backings won't fall out during swimming, sleeping, etc.

I know it costs a lot more to buy quality, but in the end it's better for your ears anyway. A friend of mine eventually developed such a sensitivity to cheap earrings that she can no longer wear anything less than 18K gold plated earrings. I get sensitive if I wear cheap earrings every day for a week or two, so I usually leave my ears bare or wear studs for everyday, then switch to my flashy cheap earrings only for going out, etc.

good idea so far

I like how @mamluv calls them flashy cheap earring for going out; that is perfectly exactly what is so fun about them! ;)

Great point you have about studs instead, but I just never wear any. And still finding even with the sterling hoops I usually wear, they get tarnished. So I've been going 2 months with no earrings at all as I reapply the sunscreen like 4x ea day (well, I try...)

(Also agree about the too many cheapies too long = bad sensitivity.)

thx :)

Sunscreen & Earrings

Whenever I get earrings that are cute but on the cheaper side (like silver earrings from Target that I know will tarnish), I paint them with a coat of clear nail polish. This helps them last a little bit longer before they begin tarnishing.

^ I do this too!

It's all about the clear top coat, it really does help a lot.
