I am having SUPER dry skin right now - dry and flaky. It kicked in about a week after coming home from a sunny destination. I didn't burn so I don't really know why it would be so bad. The same thing has happened to others I travelled with. It was so humid there and now we're back home in Alberta where it's very very dry. Maybe our skin is transitionting? Or maybe it's from over exposure to the sun, even if I didn't burn? Has this happened to anyone before?
The only lotion that's working to provide hydration is Johnson's baby lotion! I've also been drinking lots of water because I know that flaky skin can be due to dehydration but that doesn't seem to be making a difference.

I think you're right about your skin transitioning from humid to drier, colder weather. I'm from Toronto and when I travelled to Saskatchewan in September it was already getting really dry and cold there (as opposed to the very humid, summer weather here) and my skin got really dry.
Definitely moisturize your skin as soon as you get out of the shower. Try coconut oil. I've been using that lately and it smells and feels great and it's pretty inexpensive too! I compare it to a Body Shop body butter, only you get twice the amount and it's less expensive.

Ya, definitely you are correct that its due to the sun rays your skin is affected. The sun rays are the best enemy to drag the moisture from your skin. I agree with Alex to apply coconut oil. Yoghurt also works well for dry skin.

I agree coconut oil is the best for everything! Its perfect for dry skin and you can even put it on dry scalps.Almond oil is also very good.If your skin is really itchy you can try aloe vera on it as well.

Thanks guys! I was starting to think only oil would work. Even the baby lotion isn't cutting it anymore. And I hate looking like a lizard.

I agree with what others have said. Start by mega hydrating your body. Have you been taking any meds or herbal supplements that are water shedders (many diet pills are, for example)? Lotion or oils on the skin surface can only treat the symptom, not effect a cure.

You should also threat this from the inside! Drink a lot of water, it's gonna help a lot!

I've been drinking tons and tons of water and it doesn't seem to be making a difference. My skin is just peeling now I think. But I'm drinking lots of water anyway, can't be a bad thing!
Thanks for the advice :)

Dont use baby lotion because your skin is adult skin now. Try using yogurt at night with milk and olive oil. Rinse it out and put olive oil again. During the day use a sunscreen and for now try to avoid using makeup.

I agree with the other ladies that coconut oil works wonders :) I use it every single night and have been for a very long time now and my skin no longer is dry nor itchy!
