So Ive gotten to that I need something exciting and new with my hair! Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion I have to keep my length cause my hair just has too many kinks to look nice in a chic lob/bob.
I'm thinking of growing out my bangs to start off with. But I really want to jump on the ombre trend cause i think its just so chic! Thinking something along the lines like Rachel Bilson but not as lightened and a bit more subtle of a fade.
What do you gals think? Bad idea? Good idea - if so anyone got recommendations for salons in Toronto!

I think you should. Because I love ombre. :]
Every time I see a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, I am tempted to DIY my hair in an ombre style but then I think better of that because I think ombre is definitely something you need to do at a salon!

I love the ombre look! I've heard some say it's "last season" but I disagree. I think it looks great. But I definitely agree with Alex, make sure you get it done at a good salon!

Thanks for the tip sandra! That's def a good idea and agree I want to avoid using as much dye as possible since I do like my natural healthy locks. Friend of mine got it recently done so taking her recommendation and trying the salon she went to get hers done at. Will most def get a consultation as I'm a dye noobie and have no clue whats what!
Lol Alex I wish I was ballsy enough to DIY it but ya i feel I would come back to the office with some terrible results.

I def agree with the salon priority. You want it done with specific applications using foils to blend the colours because if you try at home you might end up with it looking super chunky and a line of demarcation between the lighter & darker colours. Good luck I bet it'll look great :)

Hey chicks I'm getting it done (at last!) this Sat. :))
Super excited, getting a cut while I'm at it so I can look as fresh as our new site. Will def. post pictures when its done

Got it done! :) Not as bright as it looks in real life (unless sunlight hits it)

Can see the ombre effect better in this one probably.

I came across this ombre hair DIY tutorial today and remembered we'd talked about ombre hair here before. I just reread your posts and you all seem pretty against DIY ombre hair ha ha, but check this link out:
I'm pretty tempted by this. She makes it look so easy! I have dark hair like hers so I'm wondering if the Loreal dye she suggests would actually work on me. I would definitely want to avoid using bleach.

The thing about ombre hair is that if you make a mistake- you make a MISTAKE. If you all catch my drift....
I'd be really nervous to DIY it but she does make it look fairly simple. I've been really wanting to DIY dip dye my hair in an ombre style- have shades of pink like in our Hair Transformation- Dip Dying (only just in pink, not orange-y colours).
I think that this type of dye would work and as look as you didn't keep it in for too long- and over bleach it, I think it would turn out nicely.
I think we'll have to do an article on this soon!

Personally, I don't do anything with my hair (colour or cut) at home - I trust only the professionals and so something as big as this I'd especially leave it to the pros. The last thing any chick wants to end up like is looking like she just made a huge mistake on a Friday night in her bathroom.
