Ladies (and guys), what are your opinions on men who pay women for sex (whether it be actual sex or just a 'massage')?
Personally, I think it absolutely disgusting...not only that someone could be so desperate as to pay an escort/prostitute, but also that they would want to have sex with a woman who was probably servicing ten guys that day before you came over.
I know someone who goes to these women, and every time I think about that it grosses me out so much and makes me want nothing to do with them.
So please tell me - what exactly is it about going to a woman who has sex with tons of men everyday and paying her, that is so 'sexy?'

Yes, this is revolting. It's prostitution - just a legal form of it. I feel very sorry for the individual who has to resort to paying someone for those kinds of activities.

Yes, gross

Ok, so I live in Nevada where brothels can be found pretty easily. It doesn't bother me, but it's still gross. You're not going to be getting Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman here. Watch reruns of Cops on tv to see the skanks they pick up: missing teeth, dirty. That is the more common "Lady of the Night" you'll find, I'm sure.

The adult section in our phone book is bigger than the section for doctors or lawyers! I guess those escorts are a class above the brothel ladies out in the middle of the desert (well, those poor truck drivers need some lovin' too, I guess), but eeew. Who knows who they've been with. If you're paying for someone, it definitely means you can't a girl on your own. I see no other explanation or reason. That person must also have some behavioral issues. He probably has some twisted notion of what initmacy is and can't get a real girl to participate.

It's sad

I don't understand why men go to massage parlours for "happy endings". It's sad and gross.

I'm not defending men here, but I learned from a very informative book that men are always either "loaded" or "unloaded". When they are "loaded" they wil do anything to relieve themselves. Gross, I know and it's no excuse.

I hate flipping through Now Magazine and seeing all the sex ads in the back. There are just so many! What is sad is that these ads are proof that there is a demand for these services, and that men actually use them. Ick!

I often wonder if the idea of escorts and prostitution is still around today on account of legacy upheld by a certain class of people, and not necessarily an economic class of people, but rather social.

I personally do not have any friends that I am aware of that service this industry on either end. I can see, though, that for women that participate, it could be empowering. They often have a label that they are dirty or poor and can't make money any other way. But I wonder if they find pleasure in leveraging their sexuality.

I do not condone escorts or prostitution. But I try not to let my opinions obscure the reasons why people may choose to participate in some fashion. There may be reasons or situations we do not (and care not to) understand.

This is an interesting topic, for sure.

"Needs" to be serviced

I think some people have an itch that needs to be scratched. Kind of like some who have "friends with benefits". It's not necessarily because they can't otherwise get some, but they don't have time to work for it or maybe they find a thrill in seeking anonymous, forbidden pleasures. I'm thinking about Hugh Grant, for example. Not that I agree with such things, mind you!

As for the women, many do it out of need certainly, but I have heard from friends of friends that some find a thrill from dominating this situation. If you are in the right place at the right time, it can also be incredibly lucrative.

I guess what I'm saying is, not everyone is a victim in such cases. I think, though, that such people must have some underlying issue that anonymous sex is supposed to soothe. It would probably be less expensive, and certainly safer, to seek a psychiatrist!

Yeah with you gals

From a men point of view. It really is better to keep it to himself if he really needs it. There are two big reasons to not go for paid sex. First, you don't want to be the John on the paper the next day. Second, you don't want your life to end in ten years just because you want that hour of pleasure. Personally, i would only have sex with a girl that i trust. Hopefully is going to be my future gf/wife.

you're all going to hate me....

I have a very good male friend who has gone to an escort. He's a very good-looking guy, and fairly normal. But he just got out of a relationship where he really got hurt, and isn't looking to start a relationship right now. Of course it would be ideal if he could find a friends-with-benefits situation where he could be honest about not wanting a commitment, but that's not always easy to find. I think it's better that he hire an escort rather than being dishonest and potentially hurting women by leading them on, or by being the leech at the bar looking for one-night stands.

As for the women, our society needs to wake up and provide some kind of safety net so that prostitution is safe and so that women have real help when they want to get out. We all sell ourselves in one way or another, whether we rent ourselves out to Tim Hortons for 8 hours a day or give up our dreams to make the rent. I think that prostitution (however distasteful it may be) isn't wrong until it becomes non-consentual; when the woman is trapped by addiction or life situations and feels she has no other choice. These women should be celebrated for their strength, not shunned as "disgusting".

That's fair

What a balanced other point of view. I think that is totally fair/reasonable. Is your friend George Clooney by any chance...

That was naughty of me, wasn't it? One last Sara Larsen joke for the road. Poor girl.

Is it ever consentual?

I once watched a news program about a porn star. In the beginning of the show she was all smiles and tellin stories of how much money she made and how she loved her job but by the end of the program she was crying like a baby and telling the reporter how she feels trapped and hates herself.

Whether its a country with oil or diamonds or a woman who sells her body... I dont think any of them have any real choice in the matter once it begins. When the greed, addiction or demand for evil things becomes great enough we make excuses for ourselves. Thats why we ignore the wars in Africa as we wear our bling and we ignore the wars in the middle east as we drive our SUV's and we ignore the silent cries of women who work as strippers, escorts or pristitutes when we pretend that these women have any other choice.

Find a prostitute and offer her a better childhood, an education and a life she can be proud of and lets see of she still wants to be a prostitute. No one wakes up at 18 and says hey.. i want to be a hooker. These poor girls are emotionally beaten into those situations there whole lives. Pornography is a prison. The low to no sense of self worth that got these women to do it in the first place gets much worse after they begin down that road and its next to impossible for them to ever recover. Thats why you see 50 year old hookers walking down the street.

I agree

I doubt any prostitute or escort is thrilled about her occupation, but I also agree that there needs to be protection for those who are in that industry.
