This has been a serious topic of debate amongst my friends. Some girls say who cares if he farts in front of me/in bed. It just means he's comfortable.

I say, gross!! I don't want him to ever feel THAT comfortable in front of me. I don't share my bodily functions with you and therefore you shouldn't share them with me. What do you guys think?

I'm a farting machine

HA! I grew up with the notion that farts were only to be made behind closed doors. I guess that is the European mentality. Then I met my husband. His family was more "relaxed." If a fart let loose it was blamed on "barking spiders." So, eventually I became accustomed to it and am comfortable enough around him to do it whenever. I think now I do it more than he does (when we're alone that is). Once you're married and you've shared all your gross habits with someone, farting is the least of your worries. We're way passed the making a good impression phase!

wasted farts

When you are married, farting is something that is bound to happen. It is a fact of life. Around our house, if someone farts, we just ignore it. However, I have a hard time ignoring it when my husband lets loose one of the Silent But Deadly farts that are so bad they would kill a moose! He burps a lot too. His motto is "Better to burp and taste it than fart and waste it!"

ahahhahaha, awesome motto!

That's hilarious: "Better to burp and taste it than to fart and waste it!" For some reason I'm quite gassy 'upstairs' and burp a lot (don't worry, I'm only gross about it in certain company). My bf thinks they're funny and gross sometimes. But he thinks farts are perfectly OK. I wonder why burps vs. farts can be OK or gross ....

My great grandmother....

My Jewish family has a tendency to be rather uptight about social subjects, but the only thing I remember my great grandmother telling me was, "Better out and bare the shame, than keep it in and bare the pain."

Everyone does it...

These quotes are so hilarious. Just read this now and I'm still laughing. My hubby didn't fart in front of me until we had been married for almost 3 years! I grew up in a family of farters. We did it all the time and it was just a normal thing. His family - Never. I "dutch ovened" him once when we were dating. He was so appalled that he locked himself in the bathroom and was yelling at me from behind the door. I was laughing so hard I was crying :) Great discussion!!

why did I take so long to read this thread??

Maybe it's that the thread needed a funnier title, I didn't realize how hilarious this discussion was!

My hubby seems to think he can commit any odorous crime and get out of it with a simple "oops". I'm working on him actually saying "excuse me" now (burping seems to be working better), but on occasion I suspect he blames some of his farts on our little boys.

Does anyone else pass off their farts as someone else's?

Since my boyfriend is proud farter, often my farts automatically get blamed on him! ;-)
But a funnier story is about a friend of mine. A group of us were out camping near Lake Tahoe and a couple brought their dog for the weekend. There were 5 of us and the dog in a tent. Now and again a rancid smell would saturate the tent. No one fessed, so the dog owners proceeded to explain that they'd recently changed the dog's food and a results of that was that he was very gassy. Not till later the next afternoon did the one friend fess that it was never the dog but him all along!! LOL So bad!

Omg, I can't believe how long this discussion got over farting! Funny how it started off as a "serious" topic!
