I am not much of a hat wearer for the reasons you mentioned above. Looking forward to reading the tips from fellow chicks. Maybe I can start wearing hats more often.

Really no great problem. You can always puff it up when you take it off. As far as static.....gently rub slightly damp hand through it (very damp) It works

Dry shampoo is great for the whole hat head situation.
I typically wear hats when I am having a bad hair day to begin with but
the dry shampoo will help give the roots some extra oomph.

I have long hair that
I slick back, use hair clips to keep the little hairs back, and then I out baseball cap on.
