wedding dress accessories

Ok ladies ... I made the plunge and got a wedding dress! Nothing about my wedding is traditional (casual, outdoors on the coast, bbq reception, etc ...), so I figured, "why should my dress be?"

The first dress my mom and I laid eyes on when we walked in the store was a yellow bridesmaid dress. The employee informed me it does not come in white or ivory. I tried it on anyway, at least to see how the style looked on me. Its awesome! Soooo, I got it! :-)

Have a look!

Now the challenge is to get shoes for this thing. Yellow? White (I worry attention will be drawn to my feet if I wear white)? Natural/ecru/beige? I'm thinking casual ... sandals, wedge shoes, maybe even flip flops.

Any other fun accessory ideas?

adorable dress! on Dec 27, 2007 @ 11:32 pm

Oh the dress is awesome. It's beautiful and fun at the same time. I think a cute pair of sandals would be really nice...satin, ivory or champagne colour??

As for jewelry, I think keeping it simple would be lovely. A small diamond or Swarovski crystal would be nice and a small pair of matching earrings. For the bracelet, also keep it simple, like a tennis bracelet (or something in that style) would be nice. I'm also thinking a corsage would go really well with your dress, to wear when you are not carrying your bouquet, although that might be too casual for you? I just think flowers when I see this dress... :D

Daisy Petal Sandals ? on Dec 28, 2007 @ 03:27 am

Don't know if you can find them, but considering the theme and the dress, I've seen daisy petal sandals before and think it would look adorable . . . just my humble opinion ;-)

I found a simple pair of white, one-toe loop sandals with cut-work and sequins for a very Native American look for our wedding. They couldn't have been a better match; and the best part was they were only $25 at Ross !!!

Oh, and I found a link I wanted to share with you and this seems like a good time :

BTW, the dress is adorable and I agree with Bubblybunny about seeing flowers. In my mother's day, women often carried a small, white leather-bound bible with a single stem flower (like a Gerber Daisy) marking a favorite verse. . . .

You had asked what type of wild flowers were in my bouquet and I've not answered you yet . . . it slipped my mind and then it's been so hectic I haven't asked the women who made it for me to ID the foliage. But I can tell you the "background" of the bouquet is palm fronds trimmed into shape with pieces of evergreen tucked in around whatever was blooming that day. I'm not sure exactly what, but it had some pinkish blooms (?) and was wrapped with vine to secure it all together. The picture does not do it justice . . .

First off, congratulations on picking your dress! I think if all of the elements of your wedding are not exactly traditional then it may look super cute to carry a bouquet made of vintage brooches or something similar that can incorporate a lot of colors and give it a jewelery type of look so that you don't have to worry about any other jewelery taking any attention from your dress. I think simple earrings and sandals are the best way to go.

If yellow is your dress.... on Mar 20, 2012 @ 12:45 pm

I'd go with a gold strappy sandal with some beads. Definitely not black (bumble bee) and white is just too whoaaaaa when you look at it.

In terms of accessories, depends on whether you're wearing a veil? How will your hair be?

If you're wearing your hair up, some drop earrings would be pretty.

Also, because of the shape of the neckline, I'd go with something simple and to about an inch past your collarbone.

Gold tones.. on Mar 27, 2012 @ 02:56 am

Gold strappy high heels will defiantly do the trick with nice gold earrings and bangles simple is usually the best way to go and elegant makeup should be simple also bronzes and brown tones with a shimmery lip ur gonna look amazing I'm loving the yellow gown ! Gold or Bronze on Mar 27, 2012 @ 10:19 am

I would do gold or bronze tones, maybe even a rose gold, depending what you like. Gold would be easy to dress it up a bit.

Congrats on your wedding and finding that dress that makes you feel awesome!
