How do you avoid getting dry hands in the winter?

Does anyone else get exceptionally dry hands in the winter?

I constantly apply hand cream yet my hands still feel like alligator skin!  I've been using a thick hand cream but it just isn't enough.

Any tips?

I don't have an answer either

I try to keep my hands soft by always wearing kitchen gloves when washing dishes and cleaning house, and I reach for lotions with more natural ingredients like Burt's Bees Milk & Honey or anything with Shea Butter like The Body Shop's lotions.

I try to stay hydrated too, but honestly I don't know if that makes all that much of a difference. I think I retain water a little more in winter time (could it be the hearty stews? ;)) so drinking extra makes my skin feel tight, and not always in a good way.

A few tips

@Cathy-you can use the same treatment that someone suggested for feet it works really well which is before bed apply petrolum jelly and wear thin cotten gloves.

Also if you have a aloe vera plant the aloe vera is very healing and softening also almond oil or mineral oil is great to rub into your hands.

My favorite creams are the same as mamaluv Burts Bees or Body Shop body butters.

Hydrating glove

I found a new product that just came out on the market this winter. ProtecDerm Glove. It's a moisturizing glove. No cream needed, no more greacy or oily feeling. you only wear the glove 30 min a day. The results are unreal!!! my hands never been so soft.
They only use the natural hydrating ingredients from the hand cream.
It's really an excellent product... I am impressed!!!
here is their website :
Good luck...

These gloves intrigues me, I would love to read your full review on it :)
How thin are the gloves? I've tried products like this before but they have either been very thick or too thin.

They are super thin I wear them in the car to and from work it's awesome. They are solid black so very neutral.. the cream is printed on the inside so you can see what's left..I have been wearing mine quite often and there is still a print inside... for sure a little faded but still existing.
I know the one are talking about, the gloves with the silicone gel... they are awefull...and very warm feel like your hand get very wet... Didn't like the feeling... They are also very expensive... The ProtecDerm one I paid 24.99 for them.
I am telling you this is the best thing I've found....
