What did you do in 2011?

What stands out for you for 2011?  Anything you did, or was done to you that really made an impact?  Anything you wanted to do this year but didn't?

For me, I sponsored my hubby late last year (don't even get me started on how bloody complicated THAT was!! All I can say is: any ladies wanting to marry in Europe, save yourself the extreme mental torture, confusion and stress, and just don't.  To say the least, you need the govt's permission to marry...that's the least..)...and it finally went through early this year, he moved here and we have started our lives together. I can honestly say that 2010 was one of the most stressful mind numbing brain wracking year of my life, (not to mention, I was piss scared to *really* start our life together) but 2011 made everything totally worth it :-)

I also got ITIL certified, got a microsoft cert done too, and finished another IT / network / security diploma.  Those are great too, but sort of pale in comparison lol :-)

I wanted to lose weight this year, but that didn't happen.  Rather the extra stress got me to gain quite a few pounds!!   I also wanted to learn to rollerblade and finish writing my book, neither of which has happened yet either.

All in all, this was a good year.  What about you?

I had a baby!

2010 was a terrible year for me in many ways. Most importantly I lost my grandfather who I was extremely close with. 2011 has been a great year! I had my baby boy (who I named after my Grandpa), we bought a house and it was just an all around good year. Having a baby is a major life changer. I had no idea how fun this was going to be. I can honestly say I've never been happier and I'm really excited to see what 2012 holds.

From horrible to amazing...

2011 started off horribly for me, I spent the first 8 months (plus a year or so prior) in a relationship that I wanted no part of but couldn't bring myself to leave. It was a really sad year for me because of it.

Though thankfully 2011 fully redeemed itself just as summer ended! I finally got the courage to leave that relationship and moved back home to start saving money. I also got a new position at work which is a huge stepping stone in my career plan, and bought myself a brand new car.

The biggest thing that has made 2011 the best year for me though is my new relationship. After 5 years of bad timing and waiting and wondering, I've started dating my best friend, which has made me happier than ever. :)

Aww girls each of you have done so much this year!

@starmist1 I've always -always- wanted to learn to bike!!! :-( Someone I know got his M license and told me how it's so extremely hard which sort of discouraged me from getting it.

@Ali: I'm so, so sorry for your loss of your grandpa. Losing a loved one is so extremely hard, and the sense of loss in our hearts is irreplaceable. I can see your baby boy bringing peace and happiness to your life. You look so happy and lit from within on all of your mom&baby;pics! You're always so positive and nice, it's a bit hard to tell when you're not feeling your best, but despite that I can see the extra glow of happiness this year all throughout your pregnancy and especially since baby was born :-) Your baby can learn all about what an amazing person his great grandpa that he was named after was, and he can carry on his spirit. A loved one is never replaced, but I feel that we learn to keep them in our lives in a different way. Your grandpa will never be replaced, but you'll feel his presence in your life by remembering him with the rest of your family, and raising your son to live up to his namesake.

@nik05: wow girl, it's really hard leaving a bad relationship so good for you for doing that!! So happy for you that you found love in your friendship :-) I hope 2012 brings a continuation of the good 2011 brought :-)

I spent a lot of time in 2011 self actualizing.

I did some much deserved courses on meditation and yoga, did a lot of re-jigging how I view things and just all in all did a heapload of work on myself (looking at my past, the decisions I had made and how I want my life to be different).

It's been an EXCELLENT learning experience and provide me with the much needed insight for moving forward in my life in 2012.
