My son told me today that i could be in trouble. He says I can only own 4 dogs by bylaw standards, and I have 6.I can't and will not give them up.Im safe though with only two cats.

How long have you lived where you are with all 6 dogs? Maybe that can help your case.... I wish you luck!

It would be terrible if you have to give some of your dogs away,as long as they are well looked after, you should be allowed to have as many as you want

I think as long as no one calls by-law and your dogs aren't being a nuisance, you should be ok.
If your dogs were outside barking all the time, causing a lot of noise that the neighbours can hear through the walls, their waste isn't picked up asap, etc., then you would likely expect a call from by-law.
Another way the city would know as well is if you get the city tags for them each year (a ridiculous fee IMO as cats get outside and lost more than dogs, and cat tags are a fraction of the price).

Never heard of that. I know people with more dogs than 6 and they never got in trouble. Like others said, as long as you take care of them and they don't bother anyone I'm sure your fine :)

I would check your city or town's by-laws to ensure you know what the law actually is. This way you won't worry for no reason.
